2020 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon

Medium-deep crimson. Beautiful blackcurrant, wax polish, hint panforte aromas with vanilla notes. Classical Margaret River Cabernet with fresh blackcurrant, panforte flavours, fine grainy/cedar-y tannins, underlying roasted chestnut oak notes and linear fresh acidity. Finishes firm and tight with a fine plume of tannin. This has lovely weight and balance with the perfect structure for ageing. 2026–2040+ 2021 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon G 97 Deep crimson. Beautiful cigar box, blackcurrant aromas with underlying roasted chestnut notes. Classically structured with plentiful cassis, black cherry, cedar flavours, fine-grained savoury tannins, attractive quartz- like acidity and well integrated roasted chestnut/vanilla oak. Finishes chalky firm and minerally. Archetypal Coonawarra claret with superb vibrancy, and cabernet bloodlines. Deserves a year or more cellaring time to allow all of the elements to unfold. 2024–2038 2021 Penfolds Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon G 97 Deep crimson. Lovely blackcurrant, mocha, grilled nut aromas with espresso, hint liquorice notes. Generous pure cassis, dark plum, praline, hint demi-glace flavours. Graphite firm tannins, very good mid-palate density, well integrated mocha, roasted almond notes and underlying mineral freshness. Finishes chocolaty firm with some tobacco leaf notes. Grange in Cabernet clothing, which should age brilliantly well. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, Barossa Valley, Wrattonbully; 16 months’ maturation in 100% new American oak hogsheads. 2026–2050 2021 Penfolds Bin 169 Cabernet Sauvignon G 97 Deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant, cedar, hint capsicum, sage aromas with dark chocolate notes. Inky deep, fresh and sinuous with ample cassis, dark cherry pastille fruits, fine lacy grainy tannins and well balanced cedar/marzipan notes. A plume of fine tannins at the finish. A classical Coonawarra claret style with lovely volume, complexity and torque. Should last the distance. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, 16 months’ maturation in 49% one-year-old seasoned and 51% new French oak hogsheads. 2026–2045

2019 Vasse Felix Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec

Medium-deep crimson. Fragrant pure blackcurrant, chinotto, hint violet aromas with vanilla, roasted chestnut notes. Generously concentrated with ample cassis, roasted chestnut flavours, fine lacy/grainy textures, lovely mid-palate richness/volume and fresh well well integrated acidity. Finishes chalky/al dente firm with bittersweet notes. Impressively balanced wine with superb pure fruit definition, oak complexity and gentle tannin flow. This should age brilliantly well. 78% Cabernet Sauvignon 22% Malbec. Matured in 66% new and 34% seasoned French oak barriques for 17 months. 2024–2036+ Deep crimson. Classic pure blackcurrant, hint capsicum/sage aromas with underlying mocha/vanilla notes. Inky deep and sinuous with ample cassis, mulberry fruits, fine grainy/cedar-y tannins and well balanced mocha/vanilla oak notes. Finishes claret firm with persistent dark berry fruits. Wonderful fruit definition, complexity and volume with regional character par excellence. Now–2030 2021 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz G 97 2021 Riddoch The Pastoralist Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz G 97 Deep crimson. Classical Bin 389 with intense blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha aromas and roasted almond, roasted chestnut, hint sesame nuances. Generous, smooth and velvety with ample blackberry, dark chocolate, roasted chestnut/roasted walnut, grilled nut flavours, fine loose-knit chocolaty tannins, beautifully integrated oak complexity and sinuous long fresh minerally saline acidity. Finishes velvety firm with a fine tannin plume. A superb vintage which will develop and improve further with bottle age. A keeper. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Barossa Valley, Wrattonbully, Padthaway, 12 months’ maturation in seasoned and new 37% American oak hogsheads. 2025–2045 2021 Craggy Range Sophia Merlot, Cabernet Franc G 96+ Fragrant complex bouquet, dried herbs, red plum, hint of earth and charcuterie. Medium-bodied, earthy, and savoury, very fresh, still very young but lots of attractive layers and beautiful fine-grained tannins. 83% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc. Made from single blocks of both, kept separate, then blended together. Elegant and refined.

2020 Chapel Hill Gorge Block Cabernet Sauvignon

Medium crimson. Intense blackcurrant, ferruginous aromas with underlying marzipan notes. Pure fruited and vigorous Cabernet with beautiful blackcurrant pastille, Parma violet flavours, fine loose-knit/ al dente tannins and well balanced marzipan, roasted chestnut notes. Builds muscular firm with a lovely inky plume at the finish. Impressive definition and vinosity. 2025–2035+ 2021 Elderton Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon G 95 A particularly attractive modern Australian claret style with inky cassis chinotto aromas with espresso notes, fine grainy touch grippy tannins, underlying savoury notes and well integrated acidity. It finishes firm and Deep crimson. Lovely blackcurrant pastille, roasted chestnut, marzipan aromas with hints of bush garrigue. Dense and compact with plentiful cassis, dark cherry fruits, fine slinky/grainy tannins, attractive mid- palate volume and well integrated new oak complexity. Finishes grainy firm with fresh acidity at the finish. Still elemental but will unfold and develop really well. The bush garrigue/sage notes give an appealing ethereal freshness. Keep for a while. 2026–2038 2021 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Glengyle Cabernet Sauvignon G 95 long with lovely sweet fruit notes. 2026–2035 2020 Wynns Coonawarra Estate John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon G 95 Deep crimson. Fragrant violet, pure cassis aromas with hints of dark chocolate. Expressive wine with blackcurrant, Parma violet, touch cedar flavours, fine grainy/al dente and sinuous tannins, attractive density and well balanced marzipan, roasted chestnut oak notes and fresh crisp acidity. Finishes sinewy with bittersweet cacao notes. Delicious minerally wine with seductive pure cassis notes. Now–2034 2020 Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon G 95 Opens with an intense bouquet of cassis, blackberry and blue fruits, toast, cedar and cigar box with floral overtones and a hint of eucalypt. The palate is intense yet with an attractive core of blackcurrant supported by polished vanillin tannins. Classically structured and well balanced, this is already drinking well, but will reward 10+ years in the cellar. Now– 2035

2021 Seppeltsfield No EC4 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz

Deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant pastille, dark chocolate, mocha aromas with roasted chestnut notes. Inky deep claret style wine with attractive blackcurrant, blackberry, praline flavours, fine grainy/ vigorous tannins and well integrated vanilla notes. Finishes firm and tight with minerally notes. Very good concentration and flow. Should develop very well. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon 47% Shiraz. 2024–2032 2021 Krondorf Kingship Cabernet Sauvignon G 94 Deep colour. Violet, blackcurrant, hint black olive aromas with roasted walnut notes. Generous glossy wine with ample blackcurrant, Parma violet flavours, finely grained slightly gritty/al dente textures and underlying sesame/roasted walnut notes. Finishes gravelly and minerally. Still in parts. Very impressive concentration and torque. Very good ageing potential. 2024–2030 2021 Kay Brothers Cuthbert Cabernet Sauvignon G 94 Forward ripe plummy cassis fruit, hint of bramble. Medium-bodied with lush plum fruit and a twist of liquorice. Excellent structure and Medium-deep crimson. Attractive blackcurrant, blackberry, elderberry, dark chocolate aromas with herb garden, hint leafy notes. Well concentrated blackberry, cassis fruits, fine cedar, touch leafy tannins and well integrated savoury notes. Finishes grippy firm and long with bittersweet chocolaty notes. 2024–2034 2020 Man O’ War Ironclad Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon G 94 Lifted bouquet red and black plum, hint of cedar. Fuller body, plush and vibrant, with a generous mouth feel, ample black plum and a deep vein of graphite tannin driving to the brooding finish. Finishes a touch warm and chewy but pulls it off. 2022 Two Hands Wines Sexy Beast McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon G 93 Inky purple hue, opens with plush ripe blackberry and black plum. Big rich and plush on the palate, offering plenty of bright mulberry, blueberry fruit leading to a long juicy finish. An open-knit, opulent style. Now–2030 drinkability. Finishes long. Now–2031 2021 Wynns Coonawarra Estate V&A Lane Cabernet Shiraz G 94

Well structured with good freshness and a long finish. Now–2033+ 2021 Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon G 93 Deep crimson. Lifted cassis, plum, praline, bush garrigue aromas. Generous and supple textured with plentiful choco-berry mint flavours, fine grainy al dente chewy tannins, attractive inky density and underlying savoury notes. Finishes firm, tight and minerally with leafy notes. Elegant, well defined and impactful regional-all-sorts wine. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, Wrattonbully, McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Barossa Valley, Adelaide. 12 months’ maturation, 67% one-year-old seasoned, 25% new American and 12% new French oak hogsheads. Now–2023 2021 Penfolds CWT 521 Chinese Winemaking Trial Cabernet Sauvignon Marselan G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Lovely blackcurrant pastille, black ink, slaty touch leafy/brambly/cedar aromas. A hint of exotic medjool dates. Richly flavoured wine with abundant blackcurrant, dark plum, sweet date flavours, fine loose-knit chalky/graphite tannins and underlying savoury/vanilla notes. Finishes long and bittersweet with a fine plume of tannins. Impressively fresh and distinctive wine with very good fruit definition, suppleness and length. A touch sweet on the mid-palate but savoury/cedar-y nuances and a flourish of acidity and heat tighten up the wine towards the back palate. A new expression for Penfolds but a very good pathfinding wine that captures the essence of discovery while adhering to technical excellence and, to some extent, house style. Quite a success. 95% new French oak. Now–2032 2021 Salomon Estate Dark Pearl Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot G 93 Opens with cassis and savoury earthy undertones. Medium-bodied and classically structured with a plush plummy mid-palate supported by a fine line of bright acidity and ripe tannins in support. A subtle thread of mint completes the picture. Now–2036 2020 Salomon Estate Finniss River Braeside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon G 92 Fragrant bouquet of blackcurrant, mint and eucalypt. Big, juicy and plush, offering an opulent, open-knit structure, vibrant blackcurrant pastille to the finish. Now–2033

2020 Aylesbury Estate The Pater Series Cabernet Sauvignon

Forward bouquet of blackcurrant and dried herbs. Full rich and powerful, broad shouldered with lashings of blackberry and blackcurrants supported by toasty oak. Generous in style with plenty of potential for the cellar. Now–2036 2021 Thompson Estate The Specialist Cabernet Sauvignon G 92 Blackcurrant and red plum on the bouquet with a hint of liquorice. Fuller bodied, showing power and opulence, but still contained within the frame of expectation. Backbone of ripe slightly grainy tannins in support. Finishes long. Looking a little bit shy, but with evident cellaring potential. Now–2036 2021 Chapel Hill The Vinedresser Cabernet Sauvignon G 92 Medium-deep crimson. Fragrant blackcurrant, herb garden aromas with cola notes. Plentiful cassis, herb, chinotto flavours and fine graphite/ leafy tannins. Finishes firm with attractive blackcurrant pastille notes. Medium-powered and early drinking wine with attractive density and freshness. Now–keep for a while 2018 Hutton Vale Farm Cabernet Sauvignon G 92 Medium-deep crimson. Intense black cherry, cassis, graphite with bitter dark chocolate. Crispy and juicy blackcurrant, blackberry, fine al dente, pippy ironstone tannins and underlying savoury hint vanilla/mocha oak. Chewy at the finish with fresh long acidity. French hogsheads, seasoned, and a touch new oak. Now–2030 2021 Chapel Hill The Parson Cabernet Sauvignon G 90 Medium-deep crimson. Intense cassis, redcurrant, leafy herb aromas and flavours, fine lacy tannins, attractive inky density and fresh long slurpy acidity. Firm touch ferruginous/bittersweet finish. Now 2020 Man O’ War Kulta Tytti Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot G 90 Bold nose of black plum, blackberry confit and vanillin. Trending towards full body, yet still good freshness, huge tannins with a hint of greenness. Finishes green and stalky. Likely currently in an adolescent phase and will knit together with some time.

Extraordinary wine. This is a brilliant Giaconda Chardonnay with superb density, fruit complexity, flow and mineral length. Australian Grand Cru. Absolute genius. Now–2032 2021 Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay G 100 Pale colour. Classic grapefruit, white peach, roasted almond aromas with attractive flinty notes. Beautifully concentrated Chardonnay with superb pure grapefruit, lime, stone fruit flavours, fine lacy textures, impressive mid-palate generosity, underlying marzipan, vanilla notes and fresh flinty complexity. Finishes minerally and long. Electrifying wine with wonderful volume, fruit definition, weight, complexity and energy. Highlights a marvellous vintage and years of improving the style. 100% Chardonnay, Tasmania, Tumbarumba, New South Wales and Adelaide Hills, South Australia. 9 months’ maturation in 30% seasoned and 70% new French oak barriques. Now–2036 2021 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay G 98 Pale colour. Lovely intense grapefruit, grilled nut, marzipan, vanilla aromas and flavours. Taut yet sinuous in structure with ample grapefruits and limes, underlying tonic water, grilled nut flavours, fine lacy textures, superb mid-palate volume and fresh high-pitched indelible acidity. A thoroughbred of remarkable richness and torque. A beautifully focused and classic Margaret River Chardonnay showing off the fidelity of the Gin Gin clone and precision vineyard sourcing. Now–2032 2022 Moss Wood Chardonnay G 97 Medium-pale colour. Beautiful grapefruit, melon aromas with marzipan vanilla notes. Generous and creamy with ripe yellow fruits, melon, white apricot flavours, fine supple textures, superb marzipan vanilla oak notes and fresh long indelible acidity. Lovely viscosity and mineral length; the oak in perfect symmetry to the fruit. A lovely vintage. Now–2028

Very expressive nose, lifted bouquet of white flowers, jasmine, yellow apple, white peach. Beautiful intensity, vibrancy and freshness. Wonderful cut of crystalline acidity underpinning with a long almost saline finish. Still very young but already drinking well and showing impressive integration. Wow! 2020 Isabel Estate Wild Barrique Chardonnay G 96 Pale colour. Intense flinty, grapefruit, lemon curd hint yeasty aromas. Beautifully balanced and modern style with fresh lemon curd, grapefruit, tonic water, hint ginger flavours, fine lacy textures and integrated linear acidity. Finishes minerally/crunchy and long. Now–2027 2020 Craggy Range Les Beaux Cailloux Chardonnay G 96 Opens with gunflint, struck-match reduction, hint of lemon pith and wet stone. Round and rich, excellent intensity, power and concentration. Lovely integration of toasty, nutty oak leading to a long finish. Drinking very well now; has excellent potential for the future. 2020 Smith & Sheth CRU Howell Chardonnay G 96 Very intense, buttery, nutty, excellent concentration. White peach and richer riper toast. Lots of power and concentration. Excellent length and persistence. Bigger, fuller style with great balance and pulls everything off. Wow! 2020 The Landing Madre Chardonnay G 96 Restrained bouquet with a hint of gun-flint reduction. Opens lively and bright with an elegant backbone of fine acidity. Notes of white peach to start, then slowly unfolds to reveal lovely layers with time in the glass. Finishes long. Beautifully balanced.

2022 Las Vino Barrels of Metricup Chardonnay

Attractive bouquet of white peach, grilled nectarine, flint and raw cashew. Bright and fresh, excellent intensity and drive, plenty of mealy nougat complexity building towards the finish line. Finishes long and mealy. Now–2032 2022 Las Vino Wildberry Springs Chardonnay G 95 Subtle bouquet of white nectarine, lemon, grapefruit, fresh, crisp and linear, lively with a fine cut of acidity. Fine-boned and linear. Finishes With grapes sourced from the Uley vineyard, one of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in the elevated Piccadilly Valley sub-region of the Adelaide Hills, this is a concentrated, delicious, fruit-laden wine which will delight lovers of full-flavoured Chardonnay. Juicy, ripe white nectarine flavours are at the fore, underpinned by refreshing grapefruit accents. The mid- palate is where all the action is, and the acidity is soft, balanced and integrated. Stylish oak plays a supporting role, barely perceptible but adding faint savoury detail. It is a weighty, silky, generous wine with excellent fruit intensity and purity. 2025–2032 2022 Shaw + Smith M3 Chardonnay G 95 long with mealy cashew complexity. Now–2032 2022 Barratt Uley Vineyard Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay Pale colour. Lovely white peach, nectarine, grapefruit, tonic water aromas with grilled nut, hint marzipan notes. Delicious drinking wine with plentiful peach, nectarine, apricot flavours, fine chalky textures, classical creamy notes and underlying marzipan, hint vanilla notes. This is a textbook modern Adelaide Hills Chardonnay; not a long-term keeper but it’s brilliantly balanced and ready to enjoy. Like Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz, M3 has become a classic wine of first resort with buyers wanting consistency and reliability. Now–keep for a while 2021 Vasse Felix DHJ1 Single Plot Chardonnay G 95 Pale colour. White peach, white apricot, cashew nut, tonic water notes. Supple wine with ample stone fruit flavours, fine al dente hint sappy textures, lovely viscosity and fresh cutting acidity. Elegantly styled with very good volume and phenolic twist. Very different to the Heytesbury with a nod to laissez-faire wine-making and minimalism. Now–2030 G 95

Richly concentrated wine with ample peach, nectarine, apricot, underlying vanilla marzipan notes, superb lacy texture, lovely mid-palate generosity and creaminess, and fine long mineral acidity. Delicious classical barrel-fermented Chardonnay with lovely body, weight and underlying oak complexity. 2023–2028 2021 Handpicked Wines Capella Vineyard Chardonnay G 95 Pale colour. Grapefruit, tonic water, saline aromas with grilled nut notes. Well balanced wine with lovely pure grapefruit, nectarine flavours, fine loose-knit chalky textures, very good mid-palate volume, a touch of viscosity and fresh integrated acidity. Finishes long and bittersweet. Classical style with mouth-watering freshness. Now–2027 2022 Penfolds Reserve Bin A Chardonnay G 95 Pale colour. Vibrant grapefruit, lemon curd aromas with light marzipan, flinty notes. Richly concentrated grapefruit, nectarine, lemon fruits, fine chalky, touch al dente textures, attractive mid-palate creaminess and fresh long cutting acidity. Finish crisp and tight. Should develop in the bottle very well. Very precise but keep for a year before drinking. 100% Chardonnay. 8 months in 25% seasoned and 75% new French oak Gentle bouquet of white peach, nectarine, lemon zest, hint of cashew and pineapple. Fresh, crisp, excellent intensity, linear palate structure which builds to the finish. Crystalline acidity. Excellent line and length. Still very young but super potential. 2021 Bilancia Trelinnoe Chardonnay G 95 Subtle bouquet of white nectarine, hint of yellow peach and pineapple. Fuller, richer, much more glycerol, body, weight and heft. Excellent balance – lovely freshness and tapers to a fine point towards the finish. A voluptuous style. 2021 Smith & Sheth CRU Heretaunga Chardonnay G 95 Distinctive bouquet of white blossom, savoury almost earthy notes, struck- match and gunflint. Fresh, rich and high-toned with lots of white peach and hint of buttery toast, leading to a savoury wet stone finish. Yum. barriques. 2024–2032 2021 Bilancia Tiratore Chardonnay G 95

2021 Man O’ War Valhalla Chardonnay

Attractive bouquet of fresh peach and nectarine, subtle hint of toasty vanillin. Full, rich and round, with excellent intensity and a supple creamy mouthfeel and long, lingering finish. Very bright and lively despite its alcohol and weight. The oak is well integrated and balanced. A well made, richer style. 2022 Ribbon Vale Chardonnay G 93 Pale-medium colour. Fresh grapefruit, marzipan hint nougat aromas with herb notes. Generous and creamy with ample grapefruit, tropical fruit flavours, crème brûlée/butterscotch marzipan notes and fine slinky textures with an al dente crisp finish. Delicious early drinking style with lovely mineral length. Now–2027 2021 Vasse Felix Chardonnay G 93 Pale colour. Fresh limes, grapefruit hint flinty aromas with tonic water notes. Minerally and fresh with lovely lime, lemon curd, grapefruit flavours, fine loose-knit chalky textures, attractive creamy complexity and well integrated fresh acidity. Very tangy and mouth-watering. Now– keep for a while 2021 Handpicked Wines Collection Chardonnay G 93 Pale colour. Grapefruit, nectarine, tonic water aromas with marzipan minerally notes. Well concentrated grapefruit, tonic water flavours, minerally fresh acidity, some al dente bittersweet saline notes and underlying marzipan with cutting acidity at the finish. Refreshing style. Now–soon 2022 Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay G 93 Pale colour. Fragrant camomile, grapefruit, tonic water, flinty, hint verbena aromas. Supple and creamy textured with fresh grapefruit, bitter lemon flavours, fine lacy textures and indelible long acidity. Very fresh and minerally with al dente notes at the finish. 100% Chardonnay, Tasmania, Tumbarumba, Adelaide Hills, 8 months’ maturation in seasoned and 34% new French oak barriques. Now–2028 2021 Trinity Hill Single Vineyard 125 Chardonnay G 93 Very overt reductive nose, struck-match, gun flint, chewy very toasty, very ripe peach and long finish.

An open-framed, medium-density pinot with moderate colour and flavour. Deep red fruit characters such as dried cherry and goji berry mingle with herbal flecks and Assam tea tones. There is a superb flavour on entry, though falls away a little on the mid to back palate. The wine is beautifully cleansing on the close, and its complexity reflects the multi-clonal aspect of the vineyard.
