2021 Moss Brothers Fidium Shiraz

Medium colour. Fresh redcurrant raspberry aromas with flinty, black olive notes. Supple and sweet fruited with plentiful red berry fruits fine slinky/al dente textures and underlying marzipan, roasted chestnut, toasty notes. Finishes claret firm and minerally with aniseed notes. Now–2030 2022 Schwarz Wine Co. The Grower Shiraz G 93 Deep crimson. Fresh dark plum, blackberry, roasted hazelnut, hint black liquorice aromas. Well concentrated dark chocolate, blackberry, satsuma plum flavours, fine slinky textures and underlying savoury notes, Finishes firm and tight with some black olive notes. Now–2028 2021 Wynns Coonawarra Estate V&A Lane Shiraz G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Musky plum, blackberry, dark cherry aromas with mocha, herb garden notes. Inky deep wine with pure blackberry, dark cherry flavours, briary/grippy textures and well balanced mocha, vanilla notes. Finishes slinky and long with crunchy notes. Still in its elemental phase but should develop well. 2024–2034 2021 Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Attractive cassis, blackberry sage aromas with roasted walnut notes. Fresh and complex with ample blackcurrant, blackberry, hint minty flavours, fine soft grainy tannins and underlying chocolaty roasted walnut notes. Finishes long and sweet. Some aniseed notes at the finish. 100% Shiraz, 12 months in 57% seasoned, 22% one- year-old and 21% new French oak hogsheads. Now–2034 2020 Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Syrah G 93 Slightly closed nose, hints of red and black plum with chewy layers. Tannins are ripe but firm. Structure is compact, hint of vanillin; needs a lot more time to unfurl. 2020 Smith & Sheth CRU Omahu Syrah G 93 This is a barrel selection. Distinctive bouquet, dried herbs, dried hay, plum jam, cracked pepper, excellent freshness and intensity. Falls away a touch towards the finish. Fine, slightly chalky tannins to the close.
