Château Roc de Cambes 94–95 Medium-deep crimson. Perfumed, redcurrant, wax polish, rose garden, violet aromas. Lovely richly concentrated wine with redcurrant, dark plum fruits, espresso, rose garden notes and brambly textures. Firm claret style. Domain de l’Aurage 92–93 Blackberry confit, cassis aromas with rose garden toasty notes. Well concentrated and chocolaty with plentiful blackberry, brambly flavours, fine al dente textures. Finishes chocolaty with tobacco rose garden notes 92–93 Medium-deep crimson. Intense blackberry, graphite, herb garden aromas. Well concentrated, supple and dense with plentiful fine grippy textures, some cola/ chinotto notes and underlying cedar notes. Underlying toasty/ roasted chestnut, bittersweet notes. 65% merlot, 35% cabernet franc. 50% new French oak. 13.5% alc Clos Lunelles 91–92 Medium-deep crimson. Intense blackberry, praline aromas. Richly concentrated almost soupy wine with ample dark fruits, dark chocolate notes and plentiful fine graphite tannins. Builds up firm with cedar notes. 80% merlot, 10% cabernet franc, 10% cabernet sauvignon. 50% new and 50% one-year-old French oak. 14.45% alc Château La Chenade 88–89 Medium-deep crimson. Dark plum, blackberry raspberry hint smoky notes. Well concentrated with abundant red and dark fruits, brambly textures and pronounced acidity. 100% merlot. 30% new French oak. 13.5% alc Château Montlandrie 87–88 Medium-deep crimson. Fresh graphite, dark plum fruits with chinotto notes. Sweet fruited dark plum, blackberry, briary flavours and abundant brambly/ sappy tannins. Grippy firm finish. Densely packed, elemental wine, but will the tannins soften out? 75% merlot, 20% cabernet franc, 5% cabernet sauvignon. 50% new French oak. and a bittersweet finish. Château Les Cruzelles

Château Grand Village 93–94 Medium-deep crimson. Blackberry pastille graphite aromas. Lovely buoyant wine with blackberry pastille fruits, superb viscosity, plentiful fine tannins and integrated mineral acidity. Lovely density, and freshness. Very good wine. 75% merlot, 25% cabernet franc (bouchet). Les Perrières 93–94 Deep colour. Raspberry pastille, blackberry, dark chocolate aromas with hints of rose garden. Richly concentrated, chocolaty wine with raspberry blackberry pastille fruits, some savoury complexity, firm chalky textures and attractive mineral length. Very successful. 38% merlot, 62% cabernet franc (bouchet). Domaine de Cambes 92–93 Deep crimson. Fresh blackcurrant, chinotto hint black olive aromas with toasty vanilla notes. Well concentrated blackcurrant, black olive toasty flavours, fine grainy/ al dente tannins, some savoury roasted walnut complexity and integrated fresh acidity. Finishes firm with an inky plume. 70% merlot, 30% cabernet sauvignon. 16 months in approximately 70% new French oak. 13% alc
