Vigorous finish. 92% merlot, 8% cabernet franc. 15% new French oak. 13% alc La Petite Église (de Château L’Église Clinet) 91–92 Medium-deep crimson. Intense and pretty floral, plum, redcurrant dark chocolate herb garden aromas. Well balanced palate with concentrated plum blackberry, redcurrant fruits, brambly textures and underlying roasted chestnut notes. Sapid finish. Very brambly and assertive. 90% merlot, 10% cabernet franc. 60% new French oak. Château Bourgneuf 90–91 Medium-deep colour. Intense dark cherry/ liquorice aniseed aromas with graphite notes. Well-concentrated red cherry, redcurrant fruits, fine slinky firm tannins and some toasty/ vanilla notes. Builds up very brambly and rustic on the finish. 85% merlot, 15% cabernet franc. Château La Grave 89–90 Medium-deep colour. Intense red cherry, blackberry, brambly aromas. Concentrated black fruits, hint carob notes, plentiful fine brambly textures. Touch soupy on the mid-palate and finishes chocolaty/ bitter firm. 96% merlot, 4% cabernet franc. Château Beauregard 88–89 Medium-deep colour. Musky plum, red cherry fruits with herb garden/ leafy notes. Supple and sweet fruited with red plum, red cherry fruits, leafy notes, fine sinewy textures and fresh mineral acidity. Almost confectionary like. Finishes lacy firm. 70% merlot, 30% cabernet franc. 18 months in 45% new and 55% seasoned oak. 13% alc Château La Cabanne 87–88 Medium-deep crimson. Dark plum redcurrant blueberry dark chocolate aromas. Sweet fruited with blackcurrant pastille, raspberry redcurrant fruits, fine loose-knit slinky textures, some inky complexity and underlying savoury oak. Quite sweet. 94% merlot, 6% cabernet franc. 17 months in 55% new and 45% seasoned oak. 13.5% alc

Château La Croix de Gay 86–87 Medium-deep crimson. Slightly reductive red cherry, redcurrant, strawberry fruits. Flinty red cherry, raspberry, redcurrant flavours and fine slinky textures although lacks density and complexity. 95% merlot, 5% cabernet franc. 13.3% alc Château La Pointe 86–87 Deep crimson. Wood varnishy, toasty dark plum, redcurrant fruits. Generously flavoured but extracted with ample dark plum, red berry, graphite flavours, fine slinky/ leafy textures and underlying savoury oak complexity. Touch hard acidity. Bittersweet notes at the finish. 82% merlot, 18% cabernet franc. 12 months in oak. 13% alc
