Medium crimson. Attractive musky plum, chinotto aromas with dark chocolate, sage aromas. Well-rounded wine with developed musky plum, raspberry, mulberry fruits underlying mocha, dark chocolate notes and sinuous fine chalky/ velvety textures. Finishes minerally and long with some minty notes. A lovely balance of primary fruits, barrel maturation and bottle age; the acidity and saline notes giving freshness and mineral length. From 1848-planted vines. Now–2024 Eperosa Stonegarden 1858 Grenache 2020 G 95 Medium crimson. Intense musky plum, strawberry, herb garden aniseed. Lovely musky plum, strawberry, orange rind, aniseed flavours and fine loose-knit chalky textures. Superb mid-palate volume and mineral length. A flourish of mataro (3%) and shiraz (2%) gives the wine complexity and torque. Absolutely delicious. Now–2032 John Duval Annexus Grenache 2018 G 95 Medium-deep colour. Intense plum, dark chocolate, mocha aromas with espresso notes. Full bodied Grenache with ample dark plum, mulberry, dark chocolate, crème brûlée flavours, fine chalky vigorous tannins and underlying mocha, roasted walnut notes. Finishes chocolaty firm with plentiful sweet fruit notes. A retro-maturation style with some ferruginous notes. Harks back to traditional Australian burgundy. Drinking well now but a keeper too. Now–2028 Purple Hands Planta Circa Ancestor Vine Grenache 2018 G 95 Medium-deep crimson. Dark plum, mulberry, chinotto aromas with hints of espresso. Well concentrated and slurpy with dark plum, mulberry, boysenberry fruits, chinotto/ cola notes, fine grainy textures, underlying savoury, roasted walnut notes and persistent acidity. Finishes chalky dry with some liquorice notes. Delicious wine. Now–2028 Purple Hands Planta Circa Ancestor Vine Grenache 2019 G 95 Medium-deep colour. Musky plum, raspberry, marzipan, roasted walnut aromas. Supple palate with plentiful plum, raspberry fruits and underlying marzipan, roasted walnut, liquorice notes, fine chalky tannins and fiery aniseed notes. Builds up firm and tight at the finish. From the C1880 “Woodlands Vineyard” near Lyndoch. Now–2028
