Opaque in colour, and a showy, modern wine with an attractive mix of sweet fruit pastille aromas and vanillin oak. Jubey, fruit pastille flavours follow on a full-bodied and flavoured palate which finishes slightly firm, so this needs a little time to settle. 2024–2028 Rollick Wines Friends Wednesday Shiraz 2019 G 91 Medium-deep colour and shows intense blackberry pastille, graphite aromas with red cherry / kirsch notes. Juicy and lively on the palate with abundant red and dark fruits, fine chalky tannins and pronounced tart acidity which provides a sinewy finish. Now–2025 Soul Growers Single Vineyard Hoffmann Shiraz 2017 G 91 Deep crimson. A reserved and stylish wine with blackberry praline, mocha aromas topped by herb garden notes. Slightly sweet and advanced with developed blackberry, tobacco leaf flavours, fine sinewy/ textures and pronounced acidity. Drinking quite well at its peak. Now–2026 St John’s Road Blood & Courage Shiraz 2019 G 91 Medium-deep in colour, this wine opens up with redcurrant, blackberry fruits with herb garden, roasted walnut oak complexity. The palate is supple and slurpy, with fresh redcurrant, red cherry, blackberry fruits, fine chalky/ grippy/ bittersweet textures given attractive buoyancy by fresh, long mineral acidity. Now–2025 After Five Wine Co Shiraz 2019 G 90 Deep colour. Fresh dark cherry, blackberry aromas with mocha, espresso notes. Classical dark cherry, dark plum, blackberry, panforte flavours, fine persistent chalky tannins and underlying mocha, roasted walnut notes. Finishes firm and crisp with plenty of fruit sweet notes. Now–2027 First Drop Wines Mother’s Milk Shiraz 2020 G 90 Medium-deep crimson with bright and inviting aromas of ripe dark and red berry fruits with dark chocolate complexity. Generous and sweet- fruited on the palate thanks to ripe strawberry, boysenberry and plummy fruits which also provide lovely mid-palate density with plentiful fine chalky tannins in support. Exuberant and fresh, this is an early drinking style well pitched for wide appeal. Now–2025
