Deeply coloured and an interesting expression of the the Barossa, thanks to intense dark berry, smoked meats and charcuterie aromas. The palate is more in the red fruit spectrum with attractive, buoyant sweet redcurrant flavours underpinned by fine loose-knit chalky / al dente tannins before finishing velvety smooth with chinotto complexity. Now–2028 Henschke Henry’s Seven Shiraz Grenache Mataro Viognier 2018 G 93 Deep crimson. Fresh and intense dark plum, mulberry, dried apricot aromas with aniseed notes. Generous mouthfilling wine with plentiful musky plum, mulberry raspberry fruits, fine persistent chalky/ dusty tannins, underlying dark chocolate notes and crisp but integrated acidity. An early drinking style with attractive vigour, volume and mineral length. Now–2027 Brothers at War Single Vineyard Syrah 2020 G 93 Deep colour. Attractive and understated with intense elderberry, kirsch aromas with a dusting of liquorice leading in to a generously flavoured palate with dense pastille fruits, fine slinky/ brambly textures and fresh juicy acidity. Exuberant and elemental with some savoury oak notes, this Medium-deep crimson. Lifted dark cherry, dark chocolate, mocha and bush garrigue aromas with a hint of amontillado. Quite advanced with fresh dark cherry, praline, amontillado flavours and persistent fine slinky / powdery tannins. A soft minerally finish. Now–soon Greenock Creek Block 3 Shiraz 2020 G 92 Deep crimson. Fragrant blackberry, raspberry aromas with herb garden liquorice notes. Well concentrated and vigorous style with abundant ripe black and red fruits, persistent fine graphite/ al dente tannins and some marzipan/ liquorice notes. Finishes chocolaty firm with herb notes. Heat and dust. Now–2026 Barons of Barossa Triplex Shiraz 2020 G 92 Medium-deep crimson. A traditionally heart Barossan with intense dark plum, blackberry aromas with attractive savoury nuances. Ample dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate flavours, fine bittersweet chocolaty tannins and espresso mocha notes with significant length to finish.
