Eperosa Magnolia 1941 Semillon 2020

G 96

Medium-pale colour. Fresh and intense lemon curd, apricot, white peach aromas with marzipan notes. Beautifully balanced wine with deepset lemon curd, apricot, white peach, orange rind flavours, fine loose-knit chalky textures, superb mid-palate viscosity and crunchy fresh acidity. Very good density and vinosity. From 1941 plantings. Now–2028 Tscharke Wines Gnadenfrei White Grenache Blanc 2020 G 95 An intriguing wine here with lots of twists and turns. It starts with excellent upfront fruit power, with apricot and floral tones topped by honeyed richness while still retaining the reserved nature of this variety. Dry and mouthfilling with rich but measured fruit, there is delicious savoury, nutty complexity over citrus flavours that lifts it high through to a long and sustained finish. An outstanding example of this variety. Now–2029 Eperosa Magnolia Blanc Semillon NV G 95 Medium pale colour. Lovely waxy, apricot, tropical fruit with hints of butterscotch/ honeycomb. Minerally fresh palate with apricot, white peach, waxy crème brûlée flavours, with fine chalky textures, attractive mid-palate volume and fresh lemony acidity. A fascinating wine with the bass notes of barrel maturation, the treble of acidity and the tenor of the alluvial terroir. A multi vintage blend ( 1/3 each of 2018, 2019 & 2020) from 1941 (44%), 1975 (39%) and 1971 (17%) plantings. Wonderfully different. Now–2024 St Hugo Chardonnay 2021 G 94 Pale colour. Flinty, grapefruit, white peach aromas with hint vanilla tonic water notes. Well concentrated palate with grapefruit, white peach, vanilla flavours, creamy textures, and grilled nut complexity. Finishes chalky/ minerally with stone fruit notes. A classic early drinking style with lovely fruit definition, oak integration and mineral length. 65% new French oak (40% barriques & 60% puncheons). Now–2025
