Deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant brambly aromas with roasted chestnut, peaty notes. Well concentrated and generous with ample cassis, dark plum, dark chocolate, walnutty flavours, fine grainy/ rusty tannins and integrated fresh acidity. Finishes cedary firm with very good density, volume and torque. Drink now–2032 14.5% alc Hither and Yon 2021 Touriga Tempranillo $33 G 94 Medium crimson. Musky plum, blueberry, red cherry aromas with lifted aniseed notes. Supple, sweet and juicy with gentle Ribena, blueberry fruits, slinky/ loose knit tannins and refreshing pure acidity. Finishes chalky and minerally. Attractive early fruit dominant drinking style. Drink now–soon 14% alc Reynella 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon $94 G 94 Deep crimson. Fresh inky, graphite, dark berry fruits with hints of dark chocolate and roasted walnut. Well-developed and richly concentrated wine with blackcurrant, blackberry, praline flavours, fine grainy/ cedary tannins, some graphite notes and underlying mocha/ roasted walnut nuances. Finishes claret firm with seductive dark berry fruits and a long bittersweet tannin plume showing a nice balance of fruit and bottle-age complexity. Drink now–2035 14% alc Wirra Wirra Church Block 2012 Cabernet Shiraz Merlot $25 G 94 Deep crimson. Blackcurrant, dark chocolate aromas with earthy tobacco notes. Richly concentrated and complex with dark chocolate, blackcurrant, tobacco and earthy flavours before finishing chocolaty and long. Drink now–2030 14.5% alc Hugo Wines 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon $27 G 93+ Medium deep crimson. Attractive pure blackcurrant, cedar aromas with some leafy/ sous bois notes. Inky deep and expressive wine with lovely blackcurrant/ blackberry fruits, graphite/ grainy tannins and mocha oak complexity. Finishes chewy firm with mineral notes. Drink now–2030
