Deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant brambly aromas with mocha/ vanilla notes. Richly flavoured blackcurrant, black cherry fruits and chewy firm with a touch leafy tannins, lovely mid-palate density and persistent juicy acidity. A polished claret style with glossy fruits and linear freshness. Drink now–2030 Chapel Hill Gorge Block 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon $93 G 93 Deep crimson. Blackcurrant, mocha aromas with leafy, herb, star anise notes. Very attractive cassis, red currant pastille fruits, fine loose knit/ gravelly tannins, vanilla oak complexity and fresh saline/ minerally notes. Builds up grippy firm at the finish with a persistent inky/ bittersweet plume. A classic iron fist in a velvet glove style with very good varietal definition, mid-palate richness and length that should develop very well. Matured in new (22%) and seasoned French oak for 20 months. Drink 2024–2032 14.5% alc d’Arenberg The Galvo Garage 2018 G 93 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Petit Verdot Cabernet Franc $32 Deep crimson. Intense blackberry/ blackcurrant/ blood and bone aromas. Well concentrated with dense dark berry/ dark chocolate flavours, gravelly firm tannins, some leafy herb notes and underlying mocha complexity. Finishes rusty firm and long. Drink now–2032 14.5% alc Hugh Hamilton Wines The Oddball 2019 Saperavi $74 G 93 Deep crimson. Exotic brambly mulberry jam aromas with lifted musky amontillado notes. Generously concentrated and velvety with plentiful jammy fruits, a touch of bush garrigue, abundant chalky/ grainy firm tannins and fresh marzipan/ vanilla oak. Gravelly finish with ample sweet fruit/ aniseed complexity. Lives up to its name, distinctly different with appealing linear freshness. Drink now–2028 14.9% alc Reynella 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon $93 G 93 Deep crimson. Intense dark plum, blackberry, black cherry fruits with chinotto/ marzipan notes. Richly flavoured wine with plentiful black and red berry fruits, fine loose knit grainy/ al dente tannins and integrated vanilla/ marzipan complexity. Finishes al dente/ grippy firm with redcurrant/ cassis notes with very good fruit generosity and backbone. Should continue to develop. Drink now–2032 14% alc
