Classical Margaret River Chardonnay with abundant grapefruit, stone fruit flavours, fine chalky textures, superb mid palate richness, some new oak nuances and well integrated quartz-like acidity. Al dente at the finish with persistent flinty notes. Very much in the zeitgeist. Drink now–2028 13.5% alc Thompson Estate G 96 The Specialist Chardonnay 2022 Pale colour. Intense grapefruit, tonic water, grilled nut with beautifully integrated marzipan vanilla notes. Generous, minerally and classical with lovely pure fruits, underlying oak complexity and fresh long indelible acidity. Beautiful wine with excellent definition and tension. Drink now–keep for a while 13.5% alc Clairault Streicker G 96 Streicker Ironstone Block Old Vine Chardonnay 2021 Pale colour. Nectarine, passion fruit, flinty aromas with savoury notes. Well concentrated and creamy with abundant stone fruit roasted almond flavours, fine bitter sweet textures and beautiful pure fresh acidity. Minerally finish with touch of aniseed. Drink now–2030 13.5% alc Passel Estate G 95 Passel Estate Chardonnay 2020 Pale colour, Fresh white peach, apricot aromas with vanilla, hint brine, flinty aromas. Creamy and filling with attractive stone fruit flavours, fine al dente textures, and fresh long acidity. Has developed really well with a seamless quality. Drink now–keep for a while 12.5% alc Fraser Gallop Estate G 95 Palladian Chardonnay Chardonnay 2021 Pale colour. Classic grapefruit flinty aromas with underlying grilled nut. Minerally and taut with expressive grapefruit, stone fruit flavours, fine lacy textures and fresh pure indelible/racy acidity. Finishes with sweet white peach notes. Lovely wine. Drink now–2030 12.5% alc Vasse Felix G 95 Vasse Felix Chardonnay 2022 Pale colour. Fresh nectarine, hint marzipan, flinty aromas. Well concentrated nectarine, white peach, apricot flavours, fine bitter textures, lovely creamy mid palate and underlying cutting acidity. Classically structured Chardonnay with a bittersweet finish.
