Ahren’s Creek Shiraz 2023

Medium-deep crimson. Fragrant dark cherry, peppery aromas with hints of sage and spice. Evolved with dark/red cherry, redcurrant fruits, good mid-palate viscosity and fresh underlying acidity. Chalky at the finish. Medium-powered wine with a gentle vigour and flow. Not a long-term wine though. Now–2030 Mirus Vineyards Block 21 Ridge Shiraz 2024 G 94 Deep crimson. Intense dried plum, aniseed, dark chocolate aromas with musky notes. Dense and smooth with voluminous plum, blackberry, liquorice flavours, bittersweet tannins and fresh indelible acidity. A whip of acidity and aniseed extend the palate. Now–2038 Penfolds Bin 28 Shiraz 2024 G 94 Deep crimson. Fragrant blackberry, dark plum, dark chocolate aromas with hints of sesame and spice. Chocolaty and velvety with ample choco- berry fruits, sinuous/vigorous tannins, attractive mid-palate volume and well-integrated acidity. Builds up firm with bittersweet, juicy fruit. Plenty of presence, vinosity and torque. Could last a long distance. 12 months in primarily seasoned American oak hogsheads (9% new). McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Clare, Fleurieu. Drink now – 2038. 14.5% alc Pirathon Wines Pirathon Blue Label Shiraz 2022 G 94 Deep crimson. Intense black cherry, dark chocolate aromas with underlying roasted almond notes. Supple and bittersweet with plentiful black cherry, raspberry fruits, slinky textures and fresh juicy acidity, Gravelly finish with roasted walnut, espresso notes. Very appealing medium-bodied wine. Now–2035 Seppeltsfield Wines Shiraz 2024 G 94 Deep crimson. Fresh dark cherry, musky plum, spice aromas with mocha notes. Inky-deep and juicy with dark cherry pastille, musky plum, chinotto flavours, loose-knit chalky/graphite textures and underlying roasted walnut notes. Crispy and firm at the finish. Now–2034 Sons of Eden Romulus Old Vine Shiraz 2023 G 94 Deep crimson. Fresh, blackberry, dark chocolate, espresso aromas with smoky bacon notes. Ample blackberry, praline, meaty flavours, grippy firm tannins and long fresh juicy acidity. Some bush garrigue notes at the finish. Now–2035
