Deep crimson. Classical black cherry, meaty, praline, vanilla marzipan aromas with panforte, herb notes. Concentrated and supple with black cherry pastille, panforte, apricot flavours, chocolaty textures and balanced vanilla, mocha notes. Chocolaty firm with apricotty, stone fruit notes at the finish. Lovely pure acid line and aniseed notes give freshness, and lengthens the palate. Western side of Barossa – superb old vine material. Average age 120 years old. 2028–2045 Turkey Flat Vineyards Single Vineyard Stonewell Shiraz 2024 G 98 Deep crimson. Lifted dark chocolate, dark musky plum aromas with marzipan notes. Richly concentrated dark plum, blackberry pastille fruits, plentiful fine gravelly textures, well-balanced mocha, marzipan notes and fresh underlying mineral acidity. Velvety firm with persistent dark berry fruits. Very impressive with superb mid-palate richness, density and torque. 2028–2042 Elderton Helbig 1915 Shiraz 2024 G 97 Medium-deep crimson. Intense dark cherry, panforte, praline aromas with graphite notes. Smooth and velvety with classical dark cherry, panforte, mocha flavours, chocolaty textures, some marzipan notes and long fresh mineral acidity. Finishes chocolaty with a touch of cedar. From the 1915-planted Helbig Vineyard. Now–2042 Hentley Farm Clos Otto Shiraz 2023 G 97 Deep crimson. Wax polish, dark chocolate, dark cherry, spice aromas with espresso, marzipan notes. Voluminous and smooth with concentrated dark cherry, blackcurrant fruits, roasted almond, chestnut notes, fine grained/chocolaty textures and well-balanced line of acidity. Builds up chalky firm with richly flavoured dark berry fruits and wax polish notes. Elegantly powerful. Quintessentially Barossa. 2028–2045 John Duval Wines Eligo Shiraz 2022 G 97 Deep crimson. Attractive wax polish, dark cherry aromas with praline liquorice notes. Richly concentrated with pure black cherry, hint musky plum fruits, finely grainy tannins, wax polish nuances and roasted chestnut notes. Finishes claret firm with superb flavour length. Understated in its power yet showing superb fruit definition, volume and flow. Should develop and age very well. 2028–2045
