Medium-deep crimson. Intense cassis, herb garden aromas with chinotto notes. Concentrated and classical in structure with cassis fruit and plentiful fine-grained/vigorous tannins. Some underlying savoury notes. Claret-firm finish. Very natural and elegantly styled wine, where less is more. 1944-planted cabernet vines. Now–2040 Heathvale Wines The Encounter, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 G 95 Deep crimson. Dark chocolate, black cherry, blackcurrant aromas with sage, touch black olive notes. Concentrated and inky-deep with ample cassis, praline, mocha flavours and classical grainy firm tannins. Finishes with cedar spice notes. A beautiful refined liquorice aniseed note pervades through the palate. Now Langmeil Winery Jackaman’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 G 95 Deep purple. A lovely textural varietal example, integrated and complete. Oozes class and complexity in a scent filled with cassis, black fruits, spearmint, hints of choco-mint, Aussie bush, earth and veneer oak. The palate delivers all that the scent promises: layers of dense, fine, juicy cabernet tannins in league with ripe, sweet fruit, earth, bush, jalapeño and featuring a wild herbal-edged finish. Now–2035 Murray Street Greenock Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 86%, G 95 Cabernet Franc 9%, Malbec 4%, Merlot 1% 2022 Purple-crimson. At first on the riper, richer cabernet side, bringing fruit cake and dried fruits to the aroma alongside dark plum and berries, chocolate, spice, earth, vanillin oak, twig/leaf and a splash of dried herbs. Arrives balanced on the palate, integrated, with an added note of black olive smoky savouriness. Finely, savoury tannin textured and featuring well-handled oak. Now–2038 Kies Family Wines Chaff Mill Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 G 94 Deep crimson. Varietally aromatic – cassis, parma violet, bush garrigue, black cherry and pencil shavings and roasted chestnut aromas. Elemental and bright, cassis, blackberry, and roasted chestnut flavours with plentiful sinewy tannins. Underlying claret style finish. Now–2036
