Medium-deep crimson. A big, ripe mataro style with lovely intense dark plum, dark chocolate, mocha, spice aromas. Generously flavoured and supple with attractive choco-berry fruits, spicy complexity and fine loose-knit chalky textures. Finishes chocolaty, long and minerally. Very good. Now–2028 The Willows Vineyard G7 Mataro 2021 G 92 Deep crimson in colour with excellent upfront generosity of flavour with fresh boysenberry, blackcurrant pastille aromas with dark chocolate, praline notes. Well composed wine with ample dark berry fruits, chinotto flavours, fine brambly textures and savoury notes before finishing chalky firm and minerally. A very attractive wine. Now–2030 Purple Hands Wines Mataro Grenache Shiraz 2021 G 92 Medium-deep colour with bold inky, dark plum, boysenberry and ferruginous aromas and flavours topped by white pepper complexity. Fine loose-knit graphite and slightly chewy tannins provide admirable support to attractive underlying savoury, bittersweet juicy notes. A modern and expressive Mataro blend. Now–2026 Brothers at War Single Vineyard Mataro 2020 G 91 Medium crimson. An elegant and vibrant wine with aniseed, iodine, black and red cherry aromas. Well concentrated black forest cherry flavours, fine slinky/ lacy textures with attractive mid-palate viscosity and mineral length. A medium-bodied style with a crunchy finish. Now–2028 Kurtz Family Vineyards Uncle Tony’s Mataro 2018 G 91 Medium-deep colour. Lifted kiwi polish, dark chocolate, raspberry aromas with cinnamon notes. Well concentrated, dense sweet dark chocolate, dark berry fruits with some shellac notes follow with brambly textures, fresh long acidity plus firm tannins before a rusty, ferruginous finish. Now–2026 Langmeil Winery Resurrection Mataro 2020 G 91 Medium-deep colour and a more elegant expression of mataro with fresh raspberry, inky aromas suported by dark chocolate and tarry hints. Medium-bodied with raspberry, redcurrant with hints of wet bitumen, fine loose-knit chalky textures and walnutty complxity. Sinuous and complex, it finishes velvety and long. Now–2038
