Medium-deep crimson. Intense dried roses, blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha, vanilla aromas. Richly flavoured, compact wine with plentiful red and dark berry fruits, fine slinky chocolaty tannins and vanilla, mocha oak. Finishes chalky firm with plentiful raspberry and blackberry fruits, red liquorice notes. (50% mataro/ 50% shiraz) Now–2030 Hewitson Old Garden Vineyard Mourvèdre 2019 G 94 Medium-deep crimson. Expressive dark chocolate, roasted chestnut, black cherry, red plum aromas. Well concentrated vanilla, roasted chestnut, dark chocolate, dark berry fruits, fine slinky al dente tannins with pronounced acidity. More sturdy and muscular than 2018, but lovely density, richness and mineral length. Now–2032 Hayes Family Wines Primrose Mataro 2021 G 93 Deep crimson in colour with intense dark cherry, blackberry aromas with graphite, mocha complexity. Beautifully concentrated on the palate with lovely dense ripe dark cherry, blackberry fruits, al dente textures and underlying mocha, espresso oak complexity. The finish is chocolaty and fruit sweet with juicy acidity lengthening the palate. Very good winemaking. Now–2030 Soul Growers Defiant Mataro 2018 G 93 Medium-deep crimson colour with evolved red cherry, raspberry mocha aromas with liquorice complexity. Smooth and velvety on the palate with plentiful red cherry, raspberry, strawberry fruits supported by fine loose- knit grainy tannins and underlying savoury notes before an attractive bittersweet finish. A well balanced wine with lovely fruit complexity and vinosity. Now–2028 Teusner Wines The Dog Strangler Mataro 2019 G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Moreish strawberry, cherry fruit aromas with sweet vanilla notes. Richly flavoured, hearty and voluminous with the palate dominated by spicy, cedar, vanilla oak flavours which provides wide appeal before finishing chocolaty and fruit sweet. Now–2028
