Dense and attractive aromas of raspberry, praline and roasted walnuts. Round and supple with attractive blackberry, cranberry flavours, bittersweet textures and linear fresh acidity before finishing grippy and minerally. Elegant and animated. Now–2028 Tim Smith Wines Mataro Grenache Shiraz 2021 G 94 A bit of a monster here that packs a serious punch with a deep ruby colour followed by lashings of dark fruits – fruit pastille and blackberry at its core but also with delicious peppery, meaty complexity. A moreish and impressive palate follows with a powerful core of savoury fruits well balanced with a firm backbone of tannins before brightening up on a long finish. Exceptional balance is the key here. 2024–2030
