Medium deep crimson. Fragrant dried roses, musky plum raspberry aromas with chinotto notes. Ample raspberry, strawberry, musky plum fruits, loose knit chalky textures and lovely mid-palate suppleness. Lovely fruit complexity and linear aniseed line. Builds up chewy at the finish with a touch of heat although still crowd-pleasing and delicious. Drink now–keep for a while 14.5% alc Thistledown Charming Man Single Vineyard 2021 Grenache $90 G 95 Medium deep crimson. Fresh and intense strawberry, red cherry, red liquorice aromas. Generously flavoured wine with ample strawberry, red cherry, redcurrant fruits, brambly/ grippy textures, some earthy notes and fresh, long, high-pitched acidity. Very individual but very good energy and impact. Probably needs some more time to settle down, but the elements are all in balance. Drink late 2022–2030 14.5% alc Wirra Wirra Farmer’s Heart 2021 Grenache $26 G 95 Medium deep crimson. Raspberry, strawberry, roasted walnut aromas with camomile notes. Sweet fruited dense raspberry pastille, strawberry flavours, loose knit chalky tannins, lovely mid-palate viscosity and fresh integrated acidity with some aniseed complexity. Drink now–keep for a while 14.5% alc Heirloom Vineyards Alcala 2021 Grenache $80 G 94+ Medium deep crimson. Pure strawberry, red plum fruits with attractive herb garden aniseed complexity. Concentrated, sweet fruited wine with abundant red berry fruits, lovely viscosity and integrated fresh mineral acidity. Finishes chalky with red liquorice/ aniseed notes. Drink now– 2028 Hugh Hamilton Wines The Disrupter 2022 Grenache $35 G 94+ Medium crimson. Raspberry, chinotto, Aperol-like aromas. Sweet and supple raspberry, strawberry, herbal flavours, lacy firm textures, inky notes, very good mid-palate density and fresh long acidity. Finishes chalky and long with aniseed notes. Very appealing primary style with vigorous structure. Good value. Drink now–2030 14.5% alc
