Deep crimson. Intense blackberry, roasted chestnut aromas with liquorice, herb garden notes. Wonderfully concentrated and polished wine with ample blackberry, dark chocolate flavours, persistent chocolaty firm tannins, superb mid-palate richness and integrated roasted chestnut/ grilled almond/ espresso notes. Finishes chocolaty with a long tannin plume. Keep for a while, this is a classic in the making. Drink 2026–2040 d’Arenberg The Dead Arm 2018 Shiraz $76 G 97 Medium deep crimson. Classic blackberry, dark chocolate, peat- smoke aromas. Beautifully concentrated blackberry, dark chocolate, espresso flavours, underlying peaty/ roasted chestnut notes and fine grainy/ graphite tannins. Finishes cedar firm, long and minerally with ferruginous notes. Very expressive with lovely fruit density and vigour. A reference vintage. Drink now–2032 14.5% alc Mitolo Wines Marsican 2019 Shiraz $250 G 97 Deep crimson. Intense blackberry, dark cherry, dark chocolate aromas with vanilla, marzipan notes. Well-concentrated blackberry dark chocolate marzipan flavours fine chocolaty textures, superb mid- palate volume and attractive minerally fresh acidity. Finishes firm with bittersweet/ liquorice notes. Very good density and torque with alcohol in balance and should last the distance. Drink now–2038 14.8% alc Angove McLaren Vale The Medhyk 2019 Shiraz $65 G 96 Medium deep crimson. Complex dark cherry, mocha, wax polish aromas with aniseed notes. Beautifully concentrated with plentiful dark cherry, dark chocolate, espresso flavours, fine velvety textures and integrated roasted chestnut, hint vanilla notes. Finishes chocolaty with a long tannin plume. Lovely complexity, volume and mineral length. Drink now–2035 14.5% alc
