Pax Reserve Chardonnay 2021 Pale medium colour. Classical white peach, apricot aromas with flinty, marzipan notes. Creamy-textured wine with abundant glacé fruits, some honeycomb notes, fine lacy textures, lovely mid-palate volume/viscosity and well-matched vanilla/marzipan oak notes. Finishes chalky/al dente firm with persistent sweet fruits. 2022–2026 Moss Wood G 95 Chardonnay 2020 Pale colour. Classic nectarine, grapefruit, marzipan waxy aromas with hints of vanilla and butterscotch. Generous, creamy and minerally with fresh grapefruit, nectarine fruits, fine supple textures and underlying grilled nuts, marzipan, vanilla notes. Finishes chalky and minerally. A very buoyant style with ample fruit, lovely richness of flavour, and superb new oak which should further integrate with time. 2022–2032 Vasse Felix G 95 Chardonnay 2020 Pale colour. Classical nectarine, white peach, camomile aromas with flinty, hint vanilla notes. High-tensile palate with pure nectarine, white peach fruits, fine al dente textures, a touch of yeasty complexity, some vanilla notes and fresh long lemony acidity. Lovely tension, extract and vinosity. A benchmark in this price category. 2022–2028 Xanadu Wines G 95 Stevens Road Chardonnay 2020 Pale colour. Lifted grapefruit, stonefruit, flinty aromas. Very fresh and minerally with lovely pure grapefruit, nectarine fruits, fine lacy textures, very good mid-palate volume and fresh indelible acidity. Very good tension and purity. Best to keep for a year to allow the elements to fold into each other. 2023–2028 Xanadu Wines G 95 Reserve Chardonnay 2020 Pale colour. Fragrant camomile, white peach, grapefruit aromas with flinty minerally notes. Refined and elegantly style with fresh grapefruit, nectarine, tonic water notes and bittersweet textures. Finishes chalky and minerally. Very linear, but a core of pure fruit energy. This should unravel beautifully. 2024–2030
