Forester Estate Home Block Shiraz 2022 Deep crimson. Pure blackberry ginger aromas with roasted almond/ chestnut notes. Inky deep with plentiful blackberry pastille raspberry fruits, fine loose-knit chalky tannins, well integrated roasted chestnut/ marzipan notes and fine persistent acidity. Finishes chalky/leafy firm with liquorice notes. Really good. Drink now–keep for a while 13.8% alc Passel Estate G 95 Passel Estate Lot 71 Reserve Syrah 2018 Medium-deep crimson. Lovely complex blackberry, mocha, roasted chestnut aromas with pepper notes. Richly flavoured, smooth and velvety with inky dark berry fruits, peppery notes, some underlying mocha, fine supple tannins and fresh long acidity. Finishes firm with a touch of liquorice. Drink now–2030 14% alc Windance Estate G 94 Shiraz 2021 Medium-deep crimson. Lifted espresso, dark cherry, hint brambly aromas. Generous inky deep plate with plentiful ripe blackberry, dark cherry fruits, fine bittersweet textures, savoury nuances and indelible aniseed notes. Drink now–2030 14% alc Brown Hill Estate G 93 Bill Bailey Shiraz Cabernet 2020 Medium-deep crimson. Fresh dark chocolate, mulberry, cassis, hint bush garrigue aromas. Silky textured wine with pure dark berry fruits, some praline notes, slinky textures and fresh long mineral acidity. Drink now– 2030 14.5% alc McHenry Hohnen G 92 McHenry Hohnen Syrah 2020 This unusual blend brings together a 2020 single vineyard Syrah with a touch of Roussanne. An intriguing start with its intense aromas of mulberry and blackberry accented by spice, laced with stalky complexity and more than a touch of peach skin. It’s then highly expressive with fleshy flavours of blackberry and cocoa, freshened up by aromatic florals. Quite seamless too, over a long, velveteen finish. Drink 2024–2032
