Mid-yellow. Deep-set aromas in honey, citrus, apricot kernel, ginger and fresh-baked bread. A richly defined viognier, warm and generous on the palate with wood spices flowing among layers of spiced honey, citrus, buttered toast, anise spice, orange blossom florals and musk. Complex youthful style. Now–2034 Sven Joschke Wine La Gabriella Sauvignon Blanc 2024 G 94 Mid-yellow. Reveals a full, charred fumé character cloaked in savoury lemongrass, lemon rind, honeyed toast, ripe gooseberry and an enduring grassy herbal-ness. Fuelled by spices on the palate and shining in bright, natural acidity, it shows the kind of textural qualities that will set it up well with food. Complex and interesting. Now–2032 Torbreck Woodcutters Semillon 2026 G 94 Pale colour. Intense pure lemon glacé, grapefruit aromas. Sweet pure grapefruit, lemon curd, tonic water flavours, fine chalky textures and crisp minerally acidity. Lovely density and flow. 100-plus-year-old vineyards. Now–2030 Yelland & Papps Limited Cuvée Roussanne 2025 G 94 Mid-yellow. A complex, youthful roussanne that is still in building mode with peach, melon, spiced apple, pear, citrus and sweet caramel and toasty oak. A sweetly spiced nutty complexity follows on the palate, which runs texturally creamy before ending on a brisk note of acidity. Now–2037 Schubert Estate Le Jars Blanc Viognier 2025 G 93 Pale colour. Pure lemon curd, apricot aromas with tonic water aromas. Generous apricot, white peach flavours, ample tonic water notes, al dente textures and fresh minerally acidity. Saline/brine like nuances. Now– 2030
