Deep crimson red. A deep sense of earth, leather and hints of smoked charcuterie meet dark berries and plum, cocoa and gentle spice on the aroma. Speaks of the land with its Aussie bush notes and earth on a palate very much in step in black fruits, baking spices, woodsmoke and savoury smoked meats on a bed of fine tannins. Trails off a little early but has a presence. Could take more time in bottle. Now–2034 Barr-Eden Estate Love Over Gold Menglers Hill Eden Valley Shiraz 2020 G 92 Mid-red. A wealth of wood spice and savoury oak influences mix with earth, Aussie bush, dark berries, chocolate and hints of smoked meats. As a six-year-old, it is beginning to enter into real earthy, savoury territory with smoked meats, salami and deep-seated fruit and spice. Falls a little across the middle palate before finishing on a tannic, dry note. Now– 2031 Barr-Eden Estate Love Over Gold Menglers Hill Eden Valley Shiraz 2022 G 92 Deep crimson. A big mouthful of flavour full of charm. Wood spiced oak, earth, briar, dark fruits, jube and mint aromas. Regional mint becomes an intrinsic part of the palate together with a wealth of ripe black fruits, spice, smoked meat, spearmint, Mintie confection notes and pepper. Tannins are fleshy and generous, contributing to good drinking now in its fourth year. Now–2034 Bethany Wines GR Reserve Shiraz 2021 G 92 Deep crimson. Sandalwood, black cherry aromas with musky, cedar notes. Full-bodied slightly oaky style with cedar sandalwood black cherry, hint panforte flavours, and loose-knit chalky al dente tannins. Builds up to a firm tangy finish with persistent dark berry/oaky notes. Now–2034 Calabria Family Wines St Petri Shiraz, Carignan 2023 G 92 Deep crimson. Vibrant black cherry, panforte aromas with black olive, flinty notes. Richly concentrated with ripe black cherry, panforte, dark chocolate flavours and plentiful chalky textures. Finishes chocolaty/ crunchy with flinty notes. Now–2036
