Purple-violet. So lively and energetic in its youth, that it immediately deserves your attention, and yet there is a surprising depth of flavour that carries and brings with it raspberry, forest berries, hints of undergrowth and earth together with a spiciness. Nicely textural on the palate with a rising note of spice and light herbal influence and earthiness. Nice grippy tannins come into play to the finish. Now–2030 Dewey Station Wines Venus Express Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2023 G 91 Bright crimson red. Immediately youthful and bright in sweet-fruited scents of grenache-led pressed flowers and red florals, together with earthy red- and black-berried fruits, briar and some tight, acid structure. Now–2030 Gibson Wines The Duke Grenache 2024 G 91 Light crimson. Fresh strawberry, red cherry, cranberry aromas hint of herb garden. Supple, sweet red fruit flavours with hints of cola and Turkish Delight on finish. Lovely fruit purity and lacy tannins. An attractive early drinking style. Now–2028 Mirus Vineyards Block 18 Hill Top Grenache 2024 G 91 Medium crimson. Buoyant strawberry, raspberry pastille aromas with lifted aniseed, hint varnishy notes. Round and supple with abundant red berry fruits, supple textures and well-balanced fresh acidity. The sweetness/ripeness is offset by an underlying crispness and aniseed line. Now–soon Whistler Wines Double Back Grenache 2024 G 91 Affable, sweet-fruited young grenache rich in confection, musk, chocolate, red liquorice, dark berries, leaf and spice. The palate is supple and smoothly honed, showing an easy, approachability with sweet confection notes to the fore. Now Yalumba Barossa Old Vine Grenache 2024 G 91 Nicely fruited in varietal cherry, fresh red berries, plum, herbs, earthy notes and lifted in florals with a gentle spiciness. Ripe, even-handed tannins add to an all-round drinkability. Maintains an easy-going charm and is offering good drinking now. Now–2030
