Medium-deep crimson. Musky plum, red cherry, slight Americano aromas with star anise notes. Buoyant and refreshing with ample red dark berry fruits, some vermouth-like flavours, loose-knit chalky tannins, appealing mid-palate viscosity and fresh mineral acidity. Bittersweet and juicy at the finish. Very good varietal character, with attractive volume and length. Ten months in 28% new and seasoned French oak hogsheads. Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale. Drink now – soon. 14.5% alc St Hugo Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2025 G 92 Bright purple. Black fruits, blueberries and black cherry arrive in the glass against a solid backing of earth, spring flowers, Aussie bush notes and wood spices. Easy-going, plush in fruit, fleshy in tannin, sprinkled in spice and mighty tasty. A drink-now proposition. Now–2033
