Bright purple. There’s an immediate brightness, freshness to the aroma which comes lifted in florals and enticing blackberry, plum and dried raspberry. There is a richness to explore across the palate, an attractive complexity of dark fruits, spice, earth and florals. Offers just the right balance of focused regional fruit, smooth texture, ripe tannins and palate length. Now–2032 Langmeil Winery Geologist Grenache 40.7%, Shiraz 40.3%, Mataro 19% 2024 G 94 Deep purple-crimson. From 70-year-old vines, this blend brings a concentration of fruit and elevated aromatics to the glass that impress. Grenache leads on the aroma, gifting a floral prettiness, violet and lavender with sweet red and dark fruits, red earth, Aussie bush, mint and woodsmoke. Oak remains a harmonious note on the palate; tannins are gently earthy savoury and smooth. Now–2035 Penfolds Bin 138 Grenache Shiraz Mataro G 94 Barossa Valley – South Australia 2024 Medium-deep crimson. Lovely developed dark plum, redcurrant, roasted walnut aromas with herb garden notes. Well-balanced palate with inky dark plum, cassis, redcurrant fruits, velvety textures and underlying roasted walnut notes. Builds up chalky dry at the finish with persistent buoyant fruit. In a very good place now, with the maturation effect giving the wine complexity and appeal. 48% grenache, 46% shiraz, 6% mataro. Nine months in 63% seasoned French and 37% seasoned American oak hogsheads. Drink now – keep for a while. 14.5% alc Quin Wines Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2023 G 94 Dark crimson. Inviting aromas of briar, earth, woodsmoke, dark berries and spice. A most complete example of the GSM style, one that combines the ripeness of black fruits with the sweet, red liquorice notes and baking spices and the firm but fine tannic qualities of the varieties involved. It is sound in fruit integrity and concentration, and tannin depth and overall style. Now–2035
