Hewitson Old Garden Mourvèdre 2022

Deep crimson. Fresh chinotto, blackberry pastille with marzipan, vanilla aromas. Inky and pure with refined blackberry, dark plum, touch strawberry fruits, loose-knit lacy/graphite tannins and superb vanilla, roasted chestnut, marzipan notes. Builds up al dente firm at the finish. Elegant, supple and flowing. Beautiful medium-bodied wine. Drink now–2034 13.5% alc Paulmara Estates Cellar Reserve Sangiovese 2021 Deep crimson. Lovely dark cherry, redcurrant, mocha, espresso aromas. Richly flavoured and sinuous with ample dark cherry, redcurrant, cassis fruits, lovely persistent velvety tannins and beautifully integrated mocha, roasted walnut notes. Finishes gravelly and long. Brilliant wine, offering one of the best expressions of South Australian Sangiovese. Drink now– or keep for a while 14.5% alc Barossa Boy Young Wisdom Mataro 2021 Medium-deep crimson. Fresh meaty, dark berry aromas with some panforte notes. Generously proportioned wine with attractive dark berry, smoked meat, grilled nut flavours, fine loose-knit/al dente textures and underlying savoury oak. Very good mid-palate volume and vigour with some aniseed notes. Lovely wine. Drink now–2028 15% alc Irvine Wines Altitude Cabernet Franc 2022 Medium-deep colour. Lifted and perfumed camomile, blackcurrant, redcurrant hint musky aromas with hints of chocolate and mint. Juicy and fresh with abundant dark and red berry fruits, loose-knit tannins and long fresh acidity. Firms up at the finish. Fruit-driven wine with very good volume and drive. Medium-term wine. Drink now–2028 14.3% alc. Paulmara Estates DeNero Nero D’Avola 2023 Deep crimson. Intense elderberry, dark cherry, raspberry aromas with herb notes. Slurpy and flavourful with luxuriant dark and red berry fruits, lovely integrated chalky textures, fleshy mid-palate and fresh tangy/juicy acidity. Exuberant and joyful. Drink now–soon 14% alc G 94+
