Medium-deep crimson. Blackberry, chinotto, hint negroni-like aromas with liquorice notes. Supple blackberry, strawberry, cola, liquorice flavours, very good mid-palate volume and fine chalky/chocolaty tannins. Firms up to a bittersweet finish. Very good density and flow. Should have wide appeal. Drink now–2032 14.9% alc Hobbs of Barossa Ranges 1905 Shiraz 2021 Deep crimson. Intense blackberry pastille, black cherry liqueur, Turkish delight aromas with dark chocolate notes. Rich and voluminous with deep-set black cherry, blackberry, spicy cardamom flavours, plentiful grape and oak tannins, and abundant praline marzipan oak notes. Chocolaty, cedar firm at the finish with some pine needle notes. This is a massive wine with all the elements in parts. Will need years to come around. Drink 2026–2038? 15.4% alc Orlando Wines Centenary Hill Shiraz 2016 Deep crimson. Dark cherry, dark plum, mocha, malt aromas with liquorice/graphite notes. Developed palate with dark cherry, choco- berry fruits, dense ripe tannins, attractive mid-palate volume and well- balanced mocha, vanilla, malt notes. Some ferruginous firmness at the finish. All the elements well-knitted through bottle age. Drink now– Deep crimson. Ultra ripe blackberry, black cherry liqueur, dark chocolate aromas. Substantial and concentrated wine with deep-set blackberry, black cherry liqueur demi-glace flavours, grippy cedar tannins and underling mocha oak. Chocolaty finish. Impressive in stature and power. Drink 2026–2034 14.5% alc Poonawatta 1919 Shiraz 2021 Deep crimson. Intense dark plum, black cherry, mocha aromas. Fresh dark berry, praline, mocha, vanilla flavours and slinky dry textures. Finishes chocolaty, a touch oaky and minerally, with some liquorice notes. New oak should fold into the fruit and integrate with some bottle age.
