Medium-deep crimson colour followed by a vibrant and fruit-forward wine with fresh strawberry, cherry, sweet fruit aromas and flavours with plentiful lacy/ chalky textures, and attractive pinot-like viscosity. Gentle and smooth with a fine tannin plume on the finish. Drink now–2026 Hayes Family Wines Barossa Valley Rouge Mataro 2021 G 92 A reserved style of Mataro that already feels close to its peak with fleshy, sweet fruits aromas of mulberry and blackbery with savoury leathery notes adding a good dose of varietal typicty. Beautifully approachable palate that is juicy and supple with good concentration of red fruits with well managed tannins. An early-drinking style of mataro with serious drinkability. Drink now–2025 Paisley Wines Clurichaun Mataro 2018 G 92 Medium-deep crimson. Intense black cherry, liquorice aromas with mocha grilled almonds/ marzipan notes. Sweet smooth blackberry, cola, mocha flavours and fine slinky textures before buidling towards a brambly firm and rustic finish. Drink now– 2026 Schwarz Wine Co Meta Mataro 2021 G 92 Deep crimson colour with intense meaty, cola, blackberry aromas with a savoury/ earthy edge. Complex and dense on the palate with attractive dark berry fruits, chinotto, meaty notes again and fine al dente brambly textures before finishing grippy firm well balanced with plentiful sweet fruit. Drink now–2028
