Medium-deep crimson. Expressive dark chocolate, roasted chestnut, black cherry, red plum aromas. Well concentrated vanilla, roasted chestnut, dark chocolate, dark berry fruits, fine slinky al dente tannins with pronounced acidity. More sturdy and muscular than 2018, but lovely density, richness and mineral length. Drink now–2032 Hayes Family Wines Primrose Mataro 2021 G 93 Deep crimson in colour with intense dark cherry, blackberry aromas with graphite, mocha complexity. Beautifully concentrated on the palate with lovely dense ripe dark cherry, blackberry fruits, al dente textures and underlying mocha, espresso oak complexity. The finish is chocolaty and fruit sweet with juicy acidity lengthening the palate. Very good winemaking. Drink now–2030 Soul Growers Defiant Mataro 2018 G 93 Medium-deep crimson colour with evolved red cherry, raspberry mocha aromas with liquorice complexity. Smooth and velvety on the palate with plentiful red cherry, raspberry, strawberry fruits supported by fine loose-knit grainy tannins and underlying savoury notes before an attractive bittersweet finish. A well balanced wine with lovely fruit complexity and vinosity. Drink now–2028 Teusner Wines The Dog Strangler Mataro 2019 G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Moreish strawberry, cherry fruit aromas with sweet vanilla notes. Richly flavoured, hearty and voluminous with the palate dominated by spicy, cedar, vanilla oak flavours which provides wide appeal before finishing chocolaty and fruit sweet. Drink now–2028 Tim Smith Wines Mataro 2021 G 93 Deep crimson. Great imapct of intense blackberry, iodine aromas with mocha, herb notes. Slightly sweet with powerful blackberry and iodine flavours topped by graphite lead pencil notes with fine loose-knit chalky textures and a touch of bush garrigue. Lovely mid-palate volume and mineral length with meaty complexity on the finish. Drink now–2028 Purple Hands Wines Colours of the South Mourvèdre 2020 G 93 Medium-deep crimson. An elegant and juicy style with intense elderberry, blackberry, black pepper aromas before launching into plentiful dark berry fruit flavours with peppery notes, fine graphite/ sinewy textures and attractive mineral length. A successful fruit-driven early-drinking modern style. Drink now–2026
