2020 Two Hands Dave’s Block Shiraz
G 95
Deep crimson. Intense blackberry pastille, dark chocolate, chinotto, liquorice aromas with mocha, vanilla notes. Beautifully concentrated wine with pure blackberry, praline fruits, plentiful fine graphite, hint grippy/ferruginous tannins, inky rich density and underlying savoury notes. Finishes firm with bittersweet choco-berry flavours. Classic mid-palate richness and vigour. Drink now–2034 2020 Bekkers Syrah G 95 An intriguing Syrah, thanks to a mix of black olive, salt bush, fruits of the forest and new leather aromas with prominent high quality oak well matched. There is then the Bekkers’ trademark seductive, silky texture with fine yet focused flavours before building to a soaring, dark-fruited finish. There is plenty of flesh on ample, integrated tannins that drives a sustained, hearty finish. One of the best Syrahs yet from Bekkers. Drink 2024–2032 2020 Seppeltsfield The Westing Shiraz G 95 Deep crimson. Intense blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha aromas with hints of liquorice. Classical Barossa Shiraz with ample blackberry, dark plum fruits, fine chocolaty/touch grippy tannins and well balanced roasted chestnut/mocha oak. Finishes brambly firm with inky, chinotto notes. Generously concentrated, compact and vigorous with the density and presence for long-term ageing. Drink 2024–2038 2021 Thistledown, Charming Man Single Vineyard Grenache G 95 Medium-deep crimson. Fresh and intense strawberry, red cherry, red liquorice aromas. Generously flavoured wine with ample strawberry, red cherry, redcurrant fruits, brambly/grippy textures, some earthy notes and fresh, long, high-pitched acidity. Very individual but very good energy and impact. Probably needs some more time to settle down, but the elements are all in balance. Drink now–2030 2020 Hobbs Gregor Shiraz G 94 Deep colour. Aromatic and spicy with ultra-ripe plum, blackberry, raisin aromas with dark chocolate notes. An appassimento style which successfully reflects its origins whilst offering something different. Drink now–2028
