Wonderful buoyancy and structure. Drink now–2035+ 2016 Petaluma Evans Vineyard Cabernet Blend G 96 Medium-deep crimson. Fragrant blackcurrant, mocha, tobacco leaf, bush garrigue aromas with hints of aniseed. A classical Coonawarra claret style with attractive cassis, mocha, roasted walnut, hint tobacco leaf, chinotto flavours, lovely mid- palate density and fruit sweetness, fine supple grainy tannins and integrated acidity. Intense inky, blackcurrant, dark cherry, praline aromas with lifted sage/herb notes. Generous blackcurrant, dark chocolate flavours, dense chocolaty tannins and integrated roasted chestnut/marzipan flavours. Finishes grainy firm and minerally with bay leaf/chinotto notes. Drink now–2038 2020 Gaelic Cemetery McAskill Shiraz G 96 Powerful blackberry, blueberry and savoury spice with an earthy minerality all beautifully matched with high quality oak. It’s then dry and compact; a robust, youthful wine that is all muscle right now, tightly wound for some serious drinking over the next decade or two. It’s powerful, but also understated, although the tannins are deadly serious and show this is a wine built to please over the long term. Drink 2026–2035 2018 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Johnson’s Block Cabernet Sauvignon G 96 Deep colour. Fresh dark cherry, blackcurrant, roasted coffee, sage aromas with underlying cedar notes. Well concentrated inky palate with plentiful dark cherry, blackcurrant fruits roasted chestnut, marzipan, vanilla oak notes, fine grained tannins and integrated mineral fresh acidity. Finishes claret firm with plentiful developed sweet fruit notes and a fine chalky plume. A lovely reserve style Cabernet with suppleness, evenness and generosity. Drink now–2032+
