1922 Seppeltsfield Para Tawny

Deep colour with yellow edges. Intense brandy spirit, praline, coffee, rancio, liquorice, sandalwood, prunes. Immensely concentrated almost solid praline, charcoal, crème brûlée, coffee, liquorice, sandalwood, toffee, caramel, marmalade, prune flavours, fine smooth supple/viscous textures and fresh pure spirit/aniseed length. An everlasting classic. Drink now–2070 and beyond. 2018 Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth G 98 Medium-deep colour. Fragrant and evolved blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar/cigar box, hint tobacco leaf aromas with vanilla, toasted almond, Turkish Delight notes. Well concentrated palate with plentiful blackcurrant, blackberry mulberry fruits, persistent fine grainy tannins, attractive mid-palate volume and lovely crème brûlée, marzipan, vanilla oak notes. Finishes chocolaty with excellent mineral length. This is a beautiful Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon with the density, complexity and torque to develop for the long haul. Based on Reynell Selection Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in new French oak for 18 months. The buoyant fruit and balanced structure make it easy to drink, but its best years are ahead. Drink 2025–2045 2020 Hickinbotham The Peake Cabernet Shiraz G 97 Medium-deep crimson. Blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite aromas with mocha, roasted chestnut notes. Beautifully concentrated wine with plentiful cassis, blackberry, graphite, fine gravelly textures and integrated mocha, roasted chestnut, vanilla oak. Finishes chocolaty with ample sweet fruit notes. Gently vigorous with superb fruit complexity and mineral length. 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Shiraz. Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 60% new and seasoned Bordeaux-coopered barriques; the Shiraz component was matured in 1–2-year-old puncheons. Final new oak around 50% in the blend. Drink 2024–2038 2019 Wynns Coonawarra Estate John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon G 97 Deep crimson. Expressive blackcurrant, blackberry, mocha, espresso aromas with graphite, hint leafy notes. Generous, dense and inky with plentiful blackcurrant, blackberry fruits, fine chocolaty/grainy tannins and well-integrated roasted chestnut, mocha, vanilla oak notes. Finishes cedar firm. Elemental and compact wine with lovely density, vigour and mineral length. Not ready to drink, but should unfold and develop brilliantly. Drink 2025–2038
