Balgownie’s fame surpassed Mount Mary and Henschke during the 1970s and early 1980s. Stuart Anderson sold the winery and business to Mildara Blass in 1985. Almost instantly, the Balgownie name lost traction among wine collectors. Stuart Anderson will be regarded as one of Victoria’s greatest winemakers. His influence still resonates. His mentorship of Michael Dhillon at Bindi is at the very foundation of winemaking philosophy at this great Australian wine estate.
