Medium-deep crimson. Intense red cherry, rose garden aromas with vanilla, mocha notes. Inky textured wine with fresh red cherry pastille, dried herbs, rose garden flavours, fine loose-knit bittersweet chocolaty tannins and underlying vanilla oak. An attractive graphite/ lacy tannin plume at the finish. A reference Barossa Mataro. Now–2030 Hayes Family Wines Estate Block 3 Mataro 2021 G 97 Deep crimson. Intense and vibrant dark cherry, chinotto, bitter dark chocolate panforte aromas. Superbly concentrated with dense blackberry pastille fruits, fine chocolaty tannins and brilliantly integrated savoury, mocha oak notes before finishing bittersweet with superb density, richness of flavour and torque. A wonderful mataro. 2025–2036 Barossa Boy Wines Young Wisdom Mataro 2019 G 96 Medium-deep crimson. A bold and modern mataro with dark chocolate panforte, caramel, dark berry aromas. Plush and sweet fruited on the palate with complex choco-berry flavours, panforte dark chocolate complexity, fine supple tannins and integrated acidity. All the elements are in balance in this retro-modern style – delicious. Now–2026 Teusner Wines Righteous Mataro 2018 G 96 Medium-deep colour. A ripe and luscious mataro style with dark chocolate, mocha, star anise and liquorice aromas with bottle-aged tobacco leaf complexity. Generously concentrated and complex with deep-set ripe dark berry, dark chocolate, inky flavours, fine supple tannins and integrated vanilla, mocha oak notes. Finishes chocolaty and a touch grippy firm with liquorice allsorts complexity to finish. Now– 2030 Hewitson 1853 Barrel Mataro Shiraz 2018 G 95 Medium-deep crimson. Fragrant red cherry, raspberry, stone fruit aromas with herb, potpourri notes. Generous red cherry, raspberry, stone fruit flavours, fine stalky textures, with underlying mocha, vanilla notes. Finishes graphite firm. (50% mataro/ 50% shiraz) Now–2032
