Vigorous wine with plush dense dark berry fruits, touch of cigar, fine loose-knit leafy textures, very good mid palate density and fresh indelible acidity. Finishes chewy firm and tight with cedar mocha notes. Liquorice blackberry dark chocolate, leafy aromas. Inky deep and generous, with ample blackberry, chocolaty chinotto flavours, fine bitter/slinky textures and persistent mineral acidity. Finishes cedar firm with spicy notes. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc. 14.98% alc Phélan Ségur 95–96 Deep crimson colour. Very attractive dark chocolate, dark plum aromas with cedar/chinotto notes. Richly concentrated with dark berry bittersweet flavours, plentiful chocolaty firm tannins, lovely mid palate generosity, underlying vanilla, spice notes and superb mineral length. Finishes with a graphite plume. 56% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. 55% new oak. 14.2 % alc La Boscq 94–95 Deep crimson colour. Ripe cassis, plum, panforte, cedar aromas. Concentrated and velvety wine with abundant dark cherry, cassis, dark plum, strawberry fruits, plentiful chocolaty firm tannins, marvellous concentration and fresh long graphite tannins. Builds up chewy and long. Impressive St Estèphe wine. Low yield vintage because of June hailstorm. 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. 37% new oak, with small percentage in amphorae. La Dame de Montrose 94–95 Deep crimson colour. Intense blackcurrant, dark plum, graphite black olive aromas. Richly concentrated blackcurrant, plum mocha cedar flavours, superb inky density and fresh animated chocolaty tannins. Finishes chalky and minerally. Very good energy. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 14.6% alc Le Marquis de Calon Ségur 94–94 Medium-deep crimson colour. Balsamic blackcurrant, chinotto herb aromas with underlying vanilla notes. Inky deep blackcurrant graphite hint black olive flavours and fine grainy touch sinewy tannins. Vigorous firm finish with salted liquorice notes. 58% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. 15% alc
