Merlot, Cabernet Franc. Roughly 50% new oak. Lassègue 90–91 Deep crimson colour. Touch flat. Carob, black cherry, blackcurrant cacao aromas with nougat notes. Fleshy and sweet with chocolaty textures and fresh integrated acidity. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. 50–60% new oak. Saintem Saintayme 90–91 Medium-deep crimson colour. Perfumed musky chinotto, plum with herb thyme notes. Fresh bittersweet, musky plum, black cherry fruits, fine bitter/graphite/chewy tannins and underlying savoury notes with a brambly finish. 100% Merlot. 14.4% alc Arômes de Pavie 88–89 Deep crimson colour. Intense jammy plum, dark chocolate Turkish Delight aromas. Deep-set blackberry jam, sweet berry fruits. Dense gravelly tannins, very good mid palate volume and fresh long acidity. A touch too big. 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Franc. 14.55% alc Cos d’Estournel 98–99 Deep crimson colour, almost black. Pure blackcurrant, dark cherry pastille, panforte marzipan aromas. Beautifully concentrated wine with smoky sweet dark berry pastille fruits, superb grainy tannins and underlying marzipan, vanilla notes. Cedar firm finish with lovely mineral length. 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. 14.04% Montrose 96–97 Deep crimson colour. Blackcurrant, black cherry, chinotto, hint marzipan cedar aromas. Generous and inky with ripe dark berry fruits, fine chalky tannins and cedar mocha oak. Cedar firm at the finish with impressive density and richness of flavour. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 60% new oak. 14.5% alc
