Peymouton 92–93 Deep colour. Lovely raspberry, plum hint flinty aromas with chocolate notes. Sweet raspberry, juicy dark plum, elderberry fruits, fine slinky textures, lovely inky density and mineral torque. 89% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Cabernet Franc. Simard 92–93 Medium-deep crimson colour. Red cherry dark berry, plum aniseed aromas. Well concentrated lacy textured wine with black cherry, dark plum touch leafy flavours, fine chalky al dente tannins. Finishes minerally with al dente notes. A touch subdued and elegantly styled wine with quartz acidity. 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. 14% alc Grand Mayne 91–92 Deep crimson colour. Intense pure dark cherry, plum cassis aromas with hints of mocha. Generously concentrated wine with ample dark cherry, plum, blackcurrant fruits and plentiful chocolaty/soupy tannins. Finishes firm and long. Very chocolaty and dense with underlying savoury notes. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. 60% new oak. Larcis Ducasse 91–92 Deep crimson colour. Intense dark plum, black cherry, graphite aromas and flavours with minerally notes, fine supple tannins, very good mid palate density and fresh quartz/crisp acidity. A touch saline to finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc. Around 70% new oak. Le Prieuré Saint-Emilion 91–92 Deep colour. Intense dark plum, mulberry, chinotto hint varnish aromas. Supple and sweet fruited with buoyant ripe dark berry fruits, vigorous chalky chocolaty textures and well integrated mineral acidity. Merlot, Cabernet Franc. Soutard 91–92 Deep crimson colour. Ripe blackberry, dark plum, mulberry aromas with hints of mocha. Generously concentrated blackberry, dark plum, mulberry fruits, fine lacy/loose-knit tannins, attractive mid palate volume and fresh crispy acidity. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec. Roughly 60% new oak. Cap de Mourlin 90–91 Deep crimson colour. Intensely concentrated and sturdy wine with plentiful dark plum, dark cherry, cedar aromas and flavours, and fine grippy tannins. Finishes firm and tight. Very good volume and density. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. 50% new oak.
