Intense aniseed, dark plum, vanilla aromas with fresh herb notes. Generous and round with buoyant dark plum, cassis flavours, persistent fine chalky textures, and well balanced cedar/vanilla notes. Very expressive with geosmin/wet bitumen/inky notes at the finish. Le Gay 93–94 Deep crimson colour. Musky dark plum, black cherry aromas with marzipan, vanilla, ginger notes. Well concentrated and sweet-fruited wine with ample dark plum, black cherry, mulberry fruits, fine slinky tannins and savoury, marzipan notes. Finishes minerally and long. Merlot, Cabernet Franc. 100% new oak. La Pointe 92–93 Deep crimson colour. Fresh and classical dark plum, black cherry aromas and flavours, fine loose-knit chocolaty tannins, attractive mid palate density and fresh long mineral acidity. Some savoury notes at the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc. 50% new oak. La Croix de Gay 91–92 Medium-deep crimson colour. Redcurrant, red plum, ribena aromas with herb garden notes. Sweet fruited and supple textured with buoyant red berry, cassis flavours, fine grainy tannins, attractive mid palate viscosity and underlying marzipan notes. Merlot, Cabernet Franc. 50% new oak. Le Bon Pasteur 90–91 Deep crimson colour. Fresh cherry, chinotto, panforte aromas. A touch soupy with plentiful juicy red and dark berry fruits, pippy/chocolaty tannins and well balanced fresh acidity. Concentrated and vigorous palate with a grippy firm finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc. About 80% new oak.
