Very fresh and pure with attractive juicy dark berry fruits, appealing chocolaty density and fresh mineral acidity. Finishes grainy firm. A very good vintage for Giscours. Sweet grapefruit, lemon glacé fruits, superb mid palate buoyancy and fresh mineral acidity. Lovely richness and freshness with superb mineral length. A touch phenolic at the finish, which lengthens the palate. Sauvignon Blanc. Pavillon Rouge 95–96 Deep colour. Intense graphite cassis dark chocolate wax polish with geosmin/wet bitumen notes. Beautifully concentrated and voluminous wine with abundant cassis panforte praline flavours, very attractive wax polish, wood varnish complexity and chocolaty dry textures. Finishes firm with a chocolaty plume. 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Lascombes 94–95+ Medium-deep crimson colour. Classical blackcurrant cedar aromas with touch leafy, tobacco notes. Elemental with pure cassis, dark cherry mulberry fruits, fine grainy firm tannins, some bittersweet notes and well integrated savoury complexity. Finishes firm and minerally. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot. Around 70% new oak. Brane Cantenac 94–95 Medium-deep crimson colour. Blackcurrant, vanilla hint marzipan aromas. Bittersweet cassis, black cherry fruits, very good mid palate density and persistent firm grainy tannins. Builds into a long chocolaty tannin plume at the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot dominant blend with tiny parcels of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Carménère. 70% new oak. Marquis de Terme 94–95 Deep crimson colour. Very attractive dark plum, blackcurrant pastille fruits, generous concentration, beautifully ripe chocolaty tannins and well balanced savoury complexity. Finishes firm and minerally. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot. About 50% new oak.
