2021 Barratt Uley Vineyard Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir

G 93

An open-framed, medium-density pinot with moderate colour and flavour. Deep red fruit characters such as dried cherry and goji berry mingle with herbal flecks and Assam tea tones. There is a superb flavour on entry, though falls away a little on the mid to back palate. The wine is beautifully cleansing on the close, and its complexity reflects the multi-clonal aspect of the vineyard. Decanting a few hours before serving is highly recommended to unfurl the layers and enhance the fruit. 2024–2028 2021 Moss Wood Pinot Noir G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Very attractive strawberry pastille, red cherry, chinotto aromas and flavours, fine slinky textures, lovely mid-palate viscosity and underlying roasted walnut notes. Finishes chalky and minerally with seductive sweet fruits. Early- to medium-term drinking wine. Now–2027 2022 Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir G 92 Medium crimson. Fresh pure strawberry, raspberry aromas with hint vanilla, roasted walnut notes. Supple and round on the palate with ripe strawberry, raspberry, red cherry fruits, fine lacy textures, very good mid-palate viscosity and fresh long crunchy acidity. An appealing early drinking style. 100% Pinot Noir. Maturation in a combination of primarily seasoned and 35% new French oak barriques. Now–keep for a while 2022 Tomich Wines Woodside Vineyard Pinot Noir G 91 Opens with high-toned red cherry, savoury dried herbs and earthy overtones. Supple, juicy and well structured with a hint of eucalypt supported by ripe rounded tannins. Finishes savoury. Now–2028 2022 Brokenwood Indigo Vineyard Beechworth Pinot Noir G 91 Very pale hue. Reticent bouquet, hints of red cherry and green herbs. High-toned red cherry opens to reveal an expansive palate offering bramble and stalky overtones. Well structured and tightly coiled; will likely reveal more layers of expression with time in the glass. Now–2030
