Generously concentrated dark berry, praline, panforte, minty flavours and plentiful dense chalky tannins. Drying / chocolaty-firm finish with sandalwood/ wax polish notes. Complex, voluminous and vigorous. Drink now–2034 Seabrook Wines Seabrook The Merchant Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022 G 90 An earlier drinking style than some, though there is still plenty of meat on these bones. Opaque maroon in colour, this is from a very fine vintage. There is still some biscuity oak present, with notes of black fruits, soy, graphite, beefstock, blackberries and coffee grinds. A wine of medium length and sleek tannins, there are some sour cherries to be found on the finish. Drink now–2031 Shanahans Wines Silence Is Golden Shiraz 2023 G 90 Medium-deep crimson. Black cherry, brambyly aromas with liquorice notes. Fresh juicy red and black berry fruits and underlying chalky tannins. Finishes brambly and long. Youthful and exuberant wine. Drink now–2030 Whistler Wines Estate Shiraz Cabernet 2023 G 90 A blood red colour here, the wine offers appealingly lifted aromatics with notes of florals, truffles, root vegetables, black fruits, soy, black cherries and liquorice. A wine of moderate length and a gentle fade, it really does need a little more persistence to reach the next level. There are fine tannins here and a flick of acidity. Under cork. Drink now–2029
