Atze’s Corner Wines Bachelor Shiraz 2022
G 92
A purple hue here, which verges on almost being black/blue. The nose offers aromas of blackberries, chocolate, plums and coffee grinds. Neatly focused, with good balance and fine, sleek tannins, this is a medium-weight style with a finish which lingers appealingly. A ten-year proposition. Drink now–2035 Barons of Barossa Inc 10 Year Old Barossa Cellar Tawny NV G 92 Dark mahogany hue. Notes of white chocolate, orange rind, sultanas and raisins, and toffee. This is supported by rancio notes. There is ample sweetness, all of which combines to provide impressive length. Even given the sweetness the wine is exceptionally well balanced. Good intensity throughout, with fine balance and no intrusion by any cloying note. Attractive in this early form, but there are many years of pleasure ahead of it. As a Tawny style, the drinking window is entirely up to the consumer, if well stored. Drink now–2055 Bosward Wines Bosward Shiraz 2024 G 92 The fruit for this pleasing Barossa Shiraz hails from three vineyards in the Tanunda/Bethany sub-regions. The colour is a dark mauve with a vibrant crimson rim. The nose exhibits notes of plums, black cherries, smoked meats and freshly unearthed root vegetables. There is a sleek and soft texture, quite seductive, with fine tannins on the finish. A wine of medium length, which is well constructed and has very good balance. Drink now–2033 Chaffey Bros. Wine Co Elijah Shiraz 2022 G 92 A more obvious (well, at least it is to me) connection to the powers that be with this name, 390 dozen were made of this attractive Eden Valley Shiraz. Very dark red with aromas swirling through smoky meat notes, black fruits, truffles, dried herbs and beefstock. Good flavours here, in what is quite a savoury style. The wine is of medium length, is well balanced and has fine tannins. Drink now–2034
