Kaesler Wines Alte Reben Shiraz 2023

G 95

The colour here is a vibrant magenta/crimson. On the nose, there are notes of strawberries, cherries, raspberries and spices. Yes, very much at the red fruit end of the spectrum. This is fresh and with good energy. Beautiful oak integration here, and there is just a touch of vanilla evident. Everything is ideally and impressively balanced. This is very long, maintaining the intensity and balance for the full journey, finishing with silky tannins. Unquestionably, a long and exciting future beckons and one can expect even further improvement. So much to like. Drink now–2040 Levrier Wines by Jo Irvine 2018 Mosaic Collection Argos Shiraz 2018 G 95 Jo Irvine is yet another of those superstar Barossa winemakers who have come from a famous winemaking family – in her case, father Jim (who so sadly passed away recently) was a hugely well-respected maker and known for our greatest Merlot, among many other wines. This wine comes from one of the region’s most legendary vintages and has the benefit of considerable time under its belt. It spent time in new French oak barrels. It has an opaque purple hue, with aromas of cassis and plums, with black cherries and mocha. There are hints of a vanillin touch and the oak is superbly integrated. The wine is beautifully crafted, seamless in structure and immaculately balanced. Even with all this time under its belt, it is still delightfully fresh with fine acidity and silky tannins. A wine of excellent length, it will continue to improve in the coming years. A cracker. Drink now–2040 Lou Miranda Estate Fierce III Shiraz Grenache Mataro 2022 G 95 Medium-deep crimson.
