St Hugo Eden Valley Chardonnay 2024

G 92

Lemon/straw in colour, this is youthful and quite nutty at this early stage as the oak continues to integrate. A wine of power, focus and direction. There are aromas of stone fruits, dried herbs, peaches and apricots. Quite a supple texture, there is a fine line of acidity, but that underlying power is always evident. This wine will surely improve over the coming years. Drink now–2033 Jacob’s Creek Our Limited Release Barossa Valley Fiano 2024 G 91 Another Italian variety making a name for itself in Australian vineyards, it won’t be long before we think of wines like Fiano and Vermentino as mainstream. The colour here is a deep straw yellow. The wine is powerfully aromatic with notes of stone fruits, notably apricots, and nuts. Good concentration throughout, there is power on the palate. A slippery texture, there is good length here, along with the ripe flavours. Very attractive drinking. Drink now–2027 Lambert Estate Up In The Air Viognier 2025 G 91 Inevitably youthful, the colour here is a straw with the merest hint of bronze. This is very much Viognier from head to toe. Unmistakable. There are aromas of apricots – skins, flesh, pits and juice, but there is also a hint of ginger and just a touch of citrus. A firm finish, this is most attractive, but it is not overly long. For enjoying more in the short term.

G 91

An intriguing wine, this is a blend of Roussanne and Grenache Gris from the sub-regions of Greenock, Bethany and Vine Vale. The colour is an appealing lemon/straw. There is good intensity throughout, with the nose exhibiting notes of peaches and other stone fruits. Good focus here, this is a wine of medium length. Very much a food style. Drink now–2029 Barossa Boy Wines Grant Gesture Late Harvest Semillon 2023 G 90 A pleasing dessert style, the colour here is a straw/gold. On the nose, we have notes of honey, florals, white jasmine, spices and butterscotch. An attractive and clean style with fresh flavours, to be found largely upfront. The wine is of medium length and it does fade perhaps a fraction sooner than one might wish. Nonetheless, attractive drinking while it is young and fresh. Drink now–2030
