Trescowthick Wines The Naughty One Chardonnay 2021 Chardonnay 2021
G 92
Good Chardonnay aromas that dig a little deeper in the glass. Ripe, for sure, yet offset with harmonic acidity and a citrus, lime oil-like note, even a delicate waft of mint, providing weight and power in the palate. Lovely flavours dwell, mouthfeels are even and balanced. Uncomplicated and good for that. 13.5% alc Drink now– 2032 Varney Limited Release Syrah 2022 G 92 Opaque ruby. Intriguing nose: salted plum, boysenberry, oyster shell, sumac and Dutch liquorice. Fruit presents sweet and fleshy with an edge of molasses viscosity. The palate reveals a black and blueberry medley backed by oyster shell minerality. Tannins, loose-knit and well integrated, propel the fruit towards a long, sustained finish. Worth reflecting. Drink now–2032 Vinteloper Chardonnay 2022 G 92 Clear with a faint straw. A ripe impression on the nose, lemon curd, white peach, nougat and a breath of honeysuckle. Beautiful density to the palate balanced by mouth-coating acidity. Lemon, nougat and a strew of baking spice come to an appealing bittersweet finish. Balanced duality of opulence and restraint. Drink now–2030 Wicks Estate Riesling Riesling 2024 G 92 Classic Riesling opening stanzas, aromatic with white orchard florals and cut apple squeezed over with lemon juices. The palate echoes all of that with purity and precision in the linear structures, citrus of course driving the flavours, while its pithy, zesty notes powder puff the finish. Big on refreshment. 12% alc Drink now–2034 Wicks Estate Chardonnay Chardonnay 2023 G 92 Gold with a light green tinge. Classic varietal impressions, with a faint oak spice to start, then a fast dive into a spritely palate, lively with acidity and fresh, bright fruit and citrus, stone fruit flavours remaining stoic and pure across the lines. Refreshing. 12.5% alc Drink now–2030 Wicks Estate C.J. Wicks Chardonnay Chardonnay 2022 G 92 Light to mid gold. Smart fruit with fine oak spice. Mouth-filling texturals, and ripe Chardonnay flavours lightly smacked acidity. A decent savoury interest, as well, gives this wine some complexity in the finish. 13% alc Drink now–2030
