Matured in ceramic egg and French oak barriques, this is brooding dark blackberries, black tea and cassis. Upright tannins and a fine intertwined line of acidity. A picked blueberry or two and clove spice. Pure fruited and made for day drinking and good laughs. Drink now Cape Barren Native Goose Rosé 2024 G 90 Crystal quartz hues in the glass. Ruby grapefruit, cranberry and white strawberries. Watermelon slushie. This is juicy and refreshing. The wine finishes dry but with plenty of summer fruit berry flavour. A running stream of cooling acidity. Lithe and ready for daytime sipping, maybe with smoked coral trout. Drink now Cape Barren Old Vine Shiraz 2019 G 90 Goji berries, rhubarb stem and dried fig. Carob and cedar, mocha and tiramisu. A baker’s pantry of cinnamon, clove and vanilla syrup spice. Rich tones of cherry chocolate and orange bitters on the finish. This is sultry and smooth with a lick of toasty paprika on the finish. Drinking well now for those who love a heady, spiced, mature Shiraz. Drink now Coriole Sandalwood Grenache Gris Piquepoul 2023 G 90 Both varieties grown in the Sandalwood vineyard on the McLaren Flats, picked together and co-fermented. Yellow peach, mango pudding and lemon balm. A real fleshy character to the mid palate showing almond cream and halva. Acidity carries the wine circling round to keep the citrus present. Honeysuckle and a warm treacle hint on the finish. A smart little blend for the climate and a real food-friendly
A heady mix of blackberries, smoked cherries and pomegranate juice. Oak shows in sweet cigar clippings, mocha and espresso. Raspberries uncoil on the mid palate with a tread of fresh acidity and savoury red bean and cedar notes. Smooth tannins, and a good all rounder Shiraz to have with those thrown together, social occasions, sometimes they are the best. Drink now–2026 d’Arenberg d’Arry’s Original Grenache Shiraz 2020 G 90 65% Grenache 35% Shiraz. Here, the warmth of vintage shows in raspberry roll- ups, pandan leaf and tobacco pouch. Blood plums, squashed strawberries and soft liquorice. The palate is showing its layered spice and oak tones with cedar, chinchona bark and beef bones. Grenache’s endearing frivolity loosens the strings and allows the palate to feel more energetic than a straight Shiraz would. Some milk chocolate smoothness on the finish. Drink now Dandelion Vineyards Lion’s Tooth of McLaren Vale Shiraz Shiraz 2023 G 90 94% Shiraz and 6% Riesling. Black cherry, apricot kernel, juniper and dark clove studs. Violet and underbrush. There is an angularity to this wine with distinct olive brine and caper leaf. It’s enveloped in purple florals and hefty acidity. Tannins are

A real mix of red and black fruit. Pomegranate, rhubarb and cassis. Graphite, bitter chocolate and leather boot polish. Elevated acidity and rivers of dusty tannins. Mocha, caraway and mace. Drinking well now. Its harmony of red fruit, in combination with a clear cabernet frame, makes it ideal for claret drinkers. Drink now–2028 Grant Nash Grenache Graciano Rosé Grenache Graciano 2024 G 90 A blend of 85% Grenache 15% Graciano. Watermelon rind, wild strawberry and pickled ginger. Pink Lady apple skin and running river stream. Peach skin and orange citrus on the palate with a supple flow of acidity. Dry and fresh. This is delicate enough to drink with sashimi but could handle some smoked fatty fish to cut through too. Drink now–2025 Haselgrove Wines Alternative Series Fiano 2024 G 90 Honeydew melon, green apple curls and backyard lemons. A touch of just ripe tropical fruits sits in the background. Yellow guava and passionfruit, acidity is voluptuous and pulpy. Lime skin and blackcurrant leaf on the finish. A Fiano for everyone, fruity but textural. It teeters on being round and ripe but then is pulled back in by its fresh crisp finish. Drink now

Rhubarb, pomegranate and black figs. Coffee, brown spice and cedar. The middle palate is where this wine performs and makes for a very approachable and satisfying drink. The fruit focus is clear without being muddied by leafy notes sometimes associated with these blends. Executed with care and attention. Drink now–2028 Curtis Wines Cavaliere GSM 2021 G 90 Stewed raspberries, rhubarb stem and bleeding pomegranates. Warm baking spices of nutmeg, cinnamon quill and ground ginger follow. Sandalwood and coffee powder linger. The wine is dotted with porcini mushroom and forestry ground. The palate reveals a ripeness of red cherry and chocolate tones. Coming into its wood spice and savoury chapter, the wine is drinking well now. Dusty tannins make for a warm embracing drink. Drink now
