Seppeltsfield Nero d’Avola 2024
G 92
The soils of the Western Ridge of the Barossa might be a very long way from the vineyards of Sicily, but it does seem that this variety has found a second home there. Hot and dry is just how it likes things. The colour is an alluring cherry red. The nose stands out with notes of cassis, blackberries, iron filings, beef stock and soy. The wine is richly flavoured and generous, offering medium length. Well structured, it is balanced and supple and should provide enjoyment for the next three to four years. A bottle of this would be ideal with a gourmet barbeque. Drink now–2028 Seppeltsfield Grenache 2023 G 92 The vineyards providing the fruit for this pleasing and impressive Grenache hail from the estate’s plantings on the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley. It has been made as a Joven style (think early, fresh drinking but still a wine with some stuffing). The colour is a deep garnet, while the nose offers a range of varietal Grenache characters – strawberries, warm earth, cherries, florals and smoked meats. The structure is supple with medium length and fine tannins. The palate sees the emergence of more red fruit notes. An attractive style for consuming over the next two to four years. Drink now–2028 Sister’s Run St Petri’s Riesling 2024 G 92 A finely crafted Barossa Riesling, with a pale lemon hue, the nose has a range of aromas moving through citrus, herbs and spices, all well supported by a minerally backing. There is a lovely line of salinity which runs the length and fine, ever-so- slightly crunchy acidity. Decent length and fine balance, this will provide delicious drinking over the next six to eight years. 924 dozen made. Drink now–2032 Sons of Eden Notus Old Vine Grenache 2022 G 92 Medium crimson. G 92
As noted, this is an exciting vintage. The colour here is yellow with green flecks. We have spicy notes on the nose with pears and apples. This very attractive Grigio is more refined and leaner than most and all the better for it topped by fine acidity with a lingering finish. An elegant Pinot Grigio which will provide pleasure over the next four to five years. Drink now–2029
