Maturation took place in older French and American oak for 14 months. Deep magenta in colour, the nose gives us notes of chocolate, black fruits, warm earth, iron filings, woodsmoke and black cherries. It leans towards the savoury side of the spectrum. Supple texture, a fine line of acidity, sleek tannins, intensity and decent length in spades – all the good things. This will drink well for the next half dozen years, longer in good cellars.
