Ivyburn Regional Series Shiraz 2021

G 94

The Shiraz here came from the foothills of the Barossa Ranges. From a cracking vintage, it shows just how delicious the combination of top year, Shiraz and the Barossa region can be. Under diam. A dark mauve shade, this explodes with ample black fruits, plums, herbs, coffee grinds, dried fruits, liquorice, soy, miso and dark chocolate. A wonderfully generous wine with serious length, fine balance and silky tannins. 10 years will hardly put a dent in its evolution. Great stuff! Drink now–2034 J J Hahn Reginald Shiraz Cabernet 2023 G 94 A Barossa version of the great Aussie wine blend, which will only add to the reputation which is superb and stunning value. The colour here is a deep maroon. The nose is enticing in every possible way – coffee beans, chocolate, black cherries, warm earth, a flick of nuts, dried herbs and black fruits with a touch of mulberries as well. The wine has good length of flavour with a lingering finish and supple, sleek tannins. The palate sees a hint of tobacco leaves emerge. Love it and expect to drink beautifully for a decade.
